...And it's only because he left the Heat, and not because his game has leveled off in any way.

It's incredible that when LeBron does something that's good for the integrity of the game, he gets less pub. While the 3-9 Lakers get more....

It just goes to show you that here in the Twitter generation, idiots make the news.

Even though I just consider Miami the Pacers' biggest rival for this age (my hate for the Heat did not begin and end with LeBron) - I, for one, couldn't be more relieved that we no longer have to put up with the 24/7 Miami soap opera that had consumed NBA message boards for the previous four years.

It proved to be an obsessive topic of discussion and nothing more than a continual trolling opportunity. Because let's face it - You either loved or hated that Miami team during those four years. There was no in-between.

The conversation has now switched to Andy Varejao.

I don't think that it has necessarily stopped, but it has definitely quieted down a good bit. I think that this is for a couple of reasons.

For some, he can never be in the top 5 because of, among other things, what he has done in an attempt to "chase rings". For others, he's already a top 5. Neither of those 2 sides of the argument are changing their minds any time soon.

For the majority, I think it's about seeing how the rest of his career goes. Barring injury, he's probably a season or 2 beyond the halfway point of his career, so he still has a few years to improve on his resume. I think most are just in "wait and see" mode.

If he continues to play at a high level for several more years, when he retires, the "Lebron's place in history" threads are going to be crazy.

You won;'t find a single reasonable fan who's been watching the game since Magic and Bird came into the game who'll say LeBron is in the GOAT discussion.

1.) Michael
2.) Magic
3.) Bird
...everyone else (starting with Kareem, Wilt, Oscar, Doc)

Switch two and three and I agree.

No one in this generation touches any of those guys you have listed.

Too early to tell but I've always questioned how his game would slow down when he lost quickness to get to the rim frequently. He turns 30 in December. Maybe its "starting to show" few games I watched I noticed he doesn't take it to rim like in previous years. He's not a player that I see still being top player relying on outside shots

Lebron,s game is far from slowing down. I have watched him in several games switch it on, and when he does, yow. I just think he is trying to not dominate, and try to figure out who has what strengths . Chemistry takes time. He has to build a team that can win in May and June .

Shaq did not turn the lakers or the heat around in the first few months. It takes time

I still think he made a mistake leaving Miami though- but I got to admit I am enjoying the wind being taken out of the Heat fans sails - lmao
