Here is what profootballfocus has to say about the two signings (Wharton vs Livings):

Travelle Wharton to CIN: He’s a better fit for Cincinnati than Nate Livings ever was. Not the best in pass protection but this will be somewhat negated by how quickly Andy Dalton gets rid of the ball. A big upgrade with his run blocking. Grade +0.5

Nate Livings to DAL: Livings has the size that Dallas covets on the O-line, but little else positive to bring to the table. -24.0 since he took over as starter for the Bengals in 2009. Grade -1.0

Maximum Grade is 2.0 and only deal that got that grade was Manning.

He must be really shitty in pass protection if he struggled with Cam Newton as his QB. We'll see but I think he's a back up on most teams. He may be better than Livings but would still be a below average starter at the position.

He's no Carl Nicks for sure, but an upgrade is an upgrade I guess. We knew it wasn't going to be an all-pro G signed, which is why I hope we use one of those 1st round picks on DeCastro or Glenn.

He qualifies as a warm body, which by definition is a huge upgrade over Nate the turnstile......

Considering the re-signing of Collins and adding Harvey and Anderson plus adding 2 new scouts I'll agree with the OP and say it's not a bad offseason they're having. Adding the scouts (not members of the Brown family BTW) probably the best signings. Still need to resign Sims.

Can we please keep that singular: scout.

We added one scout, we replaced another.

And btw, we need more impact players. We have not signed a single one so far.

We have impacted the offense, by subtraction at least....not having Livings and McGlynn is going to have a very positive impact on the offense......

You gotta start somewhere...and I didnt really have a high opinion of Lippencot as a football man. These guys have good credentials. They'll bring fresh eyes. Yes, we still need more personnel guys but we all knew Mike Brown wasnt going to totally revamp the scouting dept. I'll give him credit for a small step in the right direction.

Amobi Okoye being brought in for a visit. I'd love him. It'd be some solid depth along the D-Line. He's only 24 years old. Give him a shot, he'll be cheap.
