Their people are brainwashed. Each family has a speaker in their house that blasts commie messages all day. They can turn the volume up and down but can't turn it off.

all i know is i feel sorry for their people, they've been suffering for generations. maybe....just maybe this change is a start to something better? maybe it won't ever be GOOD, but anything better beats what they got now.

IF changes do occur, it'll take more generations, but a long journey starts with the first step...............

Nobody is going to be nuking anybody.....settle down guys. Kim il Jong managed to have a son that is willing to continue his "revolution".....does anyone in that country actually know what that word means?.....anyway, NK is like a crime syndicate, not a suicidial menace. They want to sell drugs and counterfeit money to get rich, not bomb other nations and sign their own death warrant. Been like this for a long time.....if there's one thing that regime knows, its survival. Which means no nukes.

That said, they are loopy and horrendous people. Maybe there's a 1% chance the new son will be like Ghaddafi's son, smarter and a bit less of a maniac, and will attempt to bring some sanity to the situation.

Very good line from an analyst just now....."The US will be very cautious and avoid anything resembling a confrontation, because they don't want the young Mr. Kim to feel as though he has to prove himself"

Does that video seem a little...um...staged to anybody else?

Good chance that it is. No doubt it will be used as propaganda. I'd bet a good amount of people there are state employes, maybe family. I'm sure there is some genuine tears though. People out there are brainwashed, I'd imagine it's like a massive case of Stockholm syndrome.

This shows people who are so malnourished they developed cataracts. When specialists are allowed in to fix them, they give all the thanks to their dear leader, But if they didn't speak that way they'd be punished too. I wonder how many of them realize his rule contributed to their cataracts in the first place.

All I could think about was "Team America"...and that song..."I'm so ronry, ronry..." and a little cockroach that squirms up into a space ship...

"Kim Jong Il do, Kim Jong Il do..." another great song...

I remember watching the "Vice Guide to Travel: North Korea" documentary and feeling a mix of horror, sadness, disturbance, pity, and intensity. At the same time, it was pretty funny watching these guys try to shoot a documentary of their State guided tour of North Korea without admitting that they're shooting a documentary.

Part 3/3

I liked this one, versus the one narrated by Lisa Ling, because Lisa Ling has one of the most annoying voices of all time. Plus, she always comes off as sounding condescending and/or patronizing.

 @ every time the NK propagandists say "Career" instead of Korea.

People there look like zombies because they're malnourished because North Korea is a totalitarian blight on the world because Kim Jong Il was a megalomaniac.

I started to type something in response to this super-distorted summary, but I realized making any meaningful headway would be a multi-page effort. Suffice it to say NK has bigger problems than totalitarian regime (plenty of totalitarian blights can feed and heat their own people), and of all the negative words you could have chosen "Megalomaniac" is probably one of the few that doesn't work.

Are you just completely misinformed about North Korea or are you just trying to be argumentative?

Suffice it to say NK has bigger problems than totalitarian regime

You're right. I hear that you can't get very good Cell reception there. WTC???

(plenty of totalitarian blights can feed and heat their own people)

Oh please do elaborate on this nonsense?

and of all the negative words you could have chosen "Megalomaniac" is probably one of the few that doesn't work.

Seriously? Do I really have to go into Kim Jong Il's delusions of greatness and importance while he destroyed his country? Again: are you really this misinformed?

Dude, just stop listening to Rush Limbaugh for three seconds and read a book or learn something. North Korea is one of the very poorest areas in the world, an area the size of Mississippi covered with mountains - but unlike most other mountainous countries doesn't even have valuable stuff to mine. Very low amount of arable land, so they can't even farm much. Terrible cycle of flooding and drought on a regular basis. They just don't have much to sell, and yeah, then you add the catastrophic economic decisions and you have ridiculous situation.

There's a reason nobody has gone in and knocked these freaks off their perch, and it has nothing to do with their recently developed crude nukes. The US or China could topple that regime in about a week, and unlike Iraq there is zero support for the govt. or any other type of faction that would make life difficult for an occupier. There is just not much anyone wants in NK.

Aaaaaaaaaaand your true colours come out. I can already tell you're one of those university professor type borderline communist people of the left because you assume I'm a Rush Limbaugh fan if I think Kim Jong Il was a totaltarian tyrant (whom you are defending for some reason). People like you are the ones who give these assholes their power. Way t' go.

What in the name of crap is your point by this? And how did it contradict anything I just said?

Hahaha.......just bottom of the barrel shit. I haven't said anything remotely good about him in three posts. Just combating your shallow black/white view of the world.

And granted, I'm being a dick about it......but that's what you get when you act like you know what you're talking about and clearly don't.

Translation: I don't like it when people take moral stances on ANYTHING even if it's a government as as oppressive as North Korea because I'm a moral relativist who supports communists tyrants like these (Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Hu Jinato). I'll bet you're a big fan of Mao Zedong too like White House Communications Director Anita Dunn is.
