right... I'm not sure that anyone in their right mind considers Detroit and Nashville as located on the "West Coast"

Western Conference doesn't equal West Coast, unless somehow Michigan and Tennessee have up and moved to the Western part of the United States any time recently and I was unaware of such a move....

To be fair, they aren't from the West Coast, they are from the Western Conference. Nashville and Detroit aren't exactly a stone's throw from the Pacific.

Then to be fair, the winner, and 2 of the finalists won't be from the East Coast either.

The point remains that it is crazy to say that there is an East Coast bias simply because someone from the Ducks didn't make it as a finalist for the Norris is all.

To be fair, Detroit & Nashville may not be on the West Coast, but they are in the Western Conference.

Imo, if Lidstrom doesn't play, the Wings might not have made the playoffs. Without Weber, Trotz still gets them in. He did it before.

It's just the nature of the beast. Conference doesn't have much to do with it, IMO. In baseball, for example, the Yankees and Phillies are in different leagues, but they still take precedence over teams like the A's and Giants.

Good points, but I would like to counter by saying that I am outraged that Myers didn't get to be selected as a finalist.

Lids was a minus player this year, tho. On a good team. Low on the TOI stat, too (28th). Still the best PPQB in the game, tho, and by a good margin. And his name is Nicklas Motherfucking Lidstrom.

My team's guy is a rock as a shutdown dman, but he doesn't have the assists. Couldn't make the PP good, either.

Weber's got a bit of everything, but he's a newcomer. Usually takes a minute for a dman to make a big enough name for himself to win the Norris.

Could be anybody's. I'm guessing Visnovsky got left out because he's not big defensively. The Ducks don't use him on the PK. Still gotta think he makes the Second All Star Team.

You would have received the reported hat trick if you would have added the phrase "wake up little snoozy"

Has any one recorded A reported hat trick yet dash? And seriously I would like to see Weber win the norris

We may have to contact the Elias Sports Bureau for that one, my friend. I don't want to speak for any of the other mods, but I'm not keeping track of that stat.

Mike Green and Big Buff should then stand in line behind Sergei Gonchar...

Mike Green now spells his name "Dustin Byfuglien".

Mike Green and Big Buff should then stand in line behind Sergei Gonchar...

Yeah, but Green was also snubbed by Team Canada as well, even though he is Canada's best defeseman.

Don't believe me, it's on a t-shirt, and t-shirts don't lie:

I'm fine with Weber winning the Norris, but I don't think many of you saw Lidstrom's defensive partners in action much this season. Rafalski, Ericsson, and Kronwall were giving away pucks faster than Lidstrom could pop his Centrum Silver. Meanwhile Suter is probably the most underrated defenseman in the league. I'd argue he's better from a strictly defensive standpoint than the three damn Norris nominees.

Really Auto? I respectfully disagree. I think if Weber's off of the Preds, than they aren't even close to the playoffs. When Trotz got them in before, they still had a solid d-corps of Greg Zanon, Dan Hamhuis, etc. along with some more offensive talent and a great goalie in Vokoun.

I agree with you and I think Lidstrom is better positionally and with his stick, but the Norris isn't based one iota on defensive merit anymore. It's strictly an offensive (with anywhere close to a passing grade on defense) trophy now.....see Green, Mike. I think the offense that surrounds Lidstrom gives him an easier path to more points. Not taking anything away from Lids, he'll go down as an all time top 5 defenseman (maybe even higher). You are 100% correct though Eddie, Suter is damn good and allows Weber to take more chances. That said, i think this year belongs to Weber. I wouldn't be outraged though if Lids wins. The guy is all-pro and all-class.

it appears from the shirt that the Russians were the ones who wanted to have Green on Team Canada.
can't say as I blame them.

Yes, I really believe it. Our D was junk for most of the year. IMO, Salei might have been the second best on the team most nights.

They all (even you, Big E) have looked night and day since the playoffs started. Even though it's only been 4 games, you'd probably have to look pretty hard to find a consistant 4 game stretch during the regular season.

Edit- "Our D" = everyone except Nicklas
