The blip that really stands out for me is 1987. Outta nowhere everyone was homering like crazy. There was no buildup to it and the very next year it disappeared. Clearly they did something with the baseball in 1987.
I was too young. The bash brothers were over by the time I attended a game, I think, it was 92. The year before Lou and the uniform change.

The Yankees 6 year/$150M offer for Blake Snell was countered with a 9 year/$270M request.
Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Dang, this was team Trevor Bauer was talking about yesterday morning thinking that should sign him.

Only getting 1 year of Burness . He definitely states he is going FA next year . Ortiz can take over ss duties when the Brewers trade Adams . Plus the 34 draft pick .

But how can you build a team without prospects, in Jerry’s voice. It just sucks cause the Orioles are a team the Mariners are chasing down and just got something they desperately need for basically nothing. The 34th pick is a nobody for that organization with how unbelievably loaded they are with young position stars. For the next two offseasons they could trade for the top pitcher available and it won’t affect them

I have to disagree. A true Ace for next to nothing even for a year is a dream trade. If the team flopped, we could have traded him at the deadline for more than what it would have cost us.

That is the under rated part. At the deadline Burnes is more valuable than what the Orioles traded for. I’m not in favor of the Mariners trading for him but they could’ve gotten him easily for that package and at worst recouped that trading him to the Orioles at the deadline cause realistically they are the only team that has a prayer against the NL this year. Sure the Rangers won the WS last year but no possible way can that staff have another ungodly postseason.

@jonbecker_

The contract itself will surely be backloaded, so that "real money" $138M will come down once we have a breakdown, but no matter what: the Witt Jr. contract brings the Royals's luxury tax payroll up to $161M, unprecedented for them.

I'd agree if Seattle were in position to contend for the playoffs, but we're not. He's a FA next year and I'd be more furious giving up prospects, missing the playoffs and letting this guy walk into FA knowing our owner is a cheap asshole.
