Just thought I would create a thread where we can talk about the smaller tournaments since they're not worthy of their own individual thread.

I see that Isner was defeated in round 1 today to some guy name Guido Pella

should delete this thread. each tourney should have its own thread. there's no reason for conflation.

No need to create threads for the little tournaments that most don't care about. I'll still create threads for the big ATP 1000 events (Indian Wells, Miami, Cincy, and etc) but most people could careless about the 250 and 500 events enough to create a thread about it

Del Potro won in his return match in straight sets. I forgot he is still kind of young. Only 27. If he can stay healthy, he may have another 3-5 solid years left

He shredded his wrist to win over Fed at the US Open. The surgeries and extended recoveries he's gone though haven't helped him avoid more injury, but I wish nothing but the best for him.

I saw a vine where he gave a big hug to a fan of his with Down Syndrome after his win yesterday. And everybody seems to really like him a lot.

Nadal is going to struggle at the French Open if these 2 clay tournaments he played so far are any indicator.

He's on serve in the 3rd with Cuevas right now

My mistake. He is actually down a break at 4-3 in the 3rd. This would be bad

Rafa lost to Cuevas.

Slippery slope for Rafa.

Could be a fall as precipitous as Hewitt's when his wheels gave out. Once that happened, there was no return.

What's also concerning for me is that he's focusing on clay events when we have 2 major hard court events in the next month. Something tells me he won't last long at Indian Wells or Miami

I'm sure he wants to do well at IW and Miami, but his focus is undoubtedly on majors, and his most realistic possibility of getting another one is at the French. Most pros treat the 5 months after the Aussie Open as the clay court season.

It blows my mind that Rafa squandered the 500 points that were handed to him. Rio and Rotterdam are the two most ridiculous 500s besides the Valencia/Basel combo. The winner of Cuevas/Pella is going to wind up with more points than a Grand Slam quarterfinalist. Something seems wrong about that.
