I did and feel Ryan was better than all of them.

Good for you, it's just sports you can feel whatever you want. It's objectively not correct though.

Ryan was certainly among the best, and his longevity is unmatched, but there were others who were more effective at winning games.

Randy Johnsons win totals would have been better if he Waterton a few bad Mariners teams. Also as stated before, Nolan Ryan was also on some bad teams. Felix Hernandez will never sniff the hall as he was, as you put it "not affective at winning games". The fact is the Mariners stunk for so many of those years.

Winning effectiveness/percentage there were quite a few. He lost almost as many as he won

His control problems early in his career didn't help him out. And fittingly enough he gives Nolan Ryan a lot of credit for fixing them.

Yup. Johnson got his walks sorted out in 1993, his age 29 season. Pretty wild to think 95.9 of his 103.5 WAR comes from age 29 onwards.

There were pitchers that had stretches of several years where they were ridiculously good. Nolan Ryan never had such a stretch. But in the long run he had more ridiculously good games than anyone.

At the top of his game he was quite literally unhittable. But he mixed in a lot of games where he was very hittable.

At the top of his game he was quite literally unhittable. But he mixed in a lot of games where he was very hittable.

I will say this...Ryan was not the most efficient for winning, but he was arguably the most exciting and entertaining and watchable pitcher in the modern era. That counts for greatness too.
