I know the Leafs had with their NTC for Kaberle and Kubina that if they didn't make the play-offs, then their NTC comes void from the end of the season to July 1. So the team can trade the player if they so wish and there is nothing the player can do. Now is this an NHL policy or was it astute contract negotiations on the leafs part by having that clause inserted?
It makes sense to have because if the team doesn't produce, then you have that small timeframe to trade a player with a NTC should you wish to do so.
If it is NHL policy, then do we have a chance to eliminate some of these NTC at the end of this year? We know we're not going to make the play-offs seeing that this team can't get it together and the spread is getting bigger each day.
