P.B. should have kept his fingers out of Burrows mouth. If someone were to stick their fingers in my mouth i would probably bite them also.

1-Bergeron didn't purposely stick his finger in Burrows mouth.
2-Biting is something a girl might do. I guess we know what kind of , and I use this term loosely, "man" Burrows is.

The article Dash posted is a good one to show that this isn't a once in a lifetime thing that the media and some are making it out to be. It mentioned Kenny "the rat" Linseman, that was the first one that came to mind for me. There have been literally hundreds over the years that went unnoticed and unreported. I remember my youth working with our senior team back home. Lots of times, guys come to the bench after a scrum and have to get the tips of their fingers bandaged by the trainer. Don Cherry talked last night about his AHL days and he had his thumb in a guys mouth and the guy was trying to chew it off. Luckily for Grapes, the guy had no teeth in the front and Grapes slid the thumb out. I don't know if that story is true but I wouldn't doubt it and Grapes admitted that he tried to bite guys, too. I remember stories of guys like Rocket Richard and Ted Lindsay doing stuff like this, too.
I'm not defending Burrows here. I'm just saying we need a little perspective on this. The real bad part is the stance the league took. It was chicken shit. Just admit the guy did it, give him a hefty fine and warn all the players and move on. Also, this is the problem with the "instigator" rule, too. Back in the day, the first shift after the break, Burrows and Bergy drop the gloves the first shift and end this bullshit. Or if not those two, then somebody else. The pussifying of hockey needs to stop. Screw the holier than thou media.

So stopping people from biting is pussifying? IMO a grown ass man biting someone is pussifying the league.

Still though...in the Finals? When's the last time we saw a guy suspended?

2007 for sure. Before that, 1996. This is just off the top of my head though; there may have been more. And let's not pretend that the league didn't suspend everything in question (including perfectly legal checks) through the first two weeks of the playoffs - only to puss out now when the trophies are on the line.

Just to throw in my two cents: Total bullshit that they let him play. I don't think Horton should've played in Game 7, but anyone putting those two incidents in the same realm of necessity of suspension is out of their mind. Next time, someone better put him in the Mandible Claw.

Don't put your hands where they don't belong and they won't get bit. Goes the same in football too. Celebrated legends of both sports resorted to eye guaging, biting, slapping earholes, etc...(they will even call yo momma a whore). Whatever you could do to slow them down. I wish some of you could be in the bottom of a football pile or in a hockey scrum when something is on the line. It's fucking war! The only reason everybody is crying about it now is because there are 1683 different camera angles in every game nowadays and the naive are just catching on.

I think the issue is the fact that it is a suspension all season long. To top it off the explanation was just a load of shit.

"I can find no conclusive evidence that Alex Burrows intentionally bit the finger of Patrice Bergeron," said NHL vice president Mike Murphy.

Oh, so even though there are improvements in technology such as camera angles to help regulate the game, we should pretend that we don't see anything that the referees themselves don't see?

Fuck it, let's stop doing goal reviews too. Call everything on the ice or field. Worked for Galarraga and the Tigers, right?

I don't care if they stop doing goal reviews. They aren't allowed during the most obvious circumstances anyway. And they don't call penalties with reviews either. Why suspensions?

Isn't it funny (well maybe not to Bruins fans) how the guy that should/shouldn't be suspended depending on who you talk to was in on all 3 goals including scoring the winner? Burrows just loves to be controversial. :p

I do think it's a bit ridiculous how things change as the postseason moves on, BUT I'm okay with that as long as it's consistent throughout a series. That said, I've never seen so many penalties in a Finals game than in Game 1.

"I can find no conclusive evidence that Alex Burrows intentionally bit the finger of Patrice Bergeron," said NHL vice president Mike Murphy.

I think that the explanation by the league is the biggest farce in this whole thing. As I said, they needed to acknowledge it and give the guy a big fine and move on. I don't condone the biting, it's a punk ass thing to do but it's not as unusual as people make it out to be.

Btw, ELYEAH, when I said pussifying, I didn't mean about the biting part. I meant that without this notion that fighting is so bad, this would have and should have been dealt with on the ice by players. Burrows would have gotten his nose bloodied for it and he would be less inclined to do it in the future.

watched the 84 scf deciding game late last night on CBC

on one play Glenn Anderson skates into the corner with Clark Gillies down on the ice laying on the puck and leads with his feet/skates ... fuck thats finishing a check?)

Duane Sutter skates in with his elbow high and totally clears him out with a head shot ... 2 mins elbowing (lol) ... Anderson gets up and facewashes and it totally looked like Sutter bit down on his glove hand ... scrum ends and Sutter goes to the penalty box and squirts water all over a fan in the front row ... fan kicked out

I dont remember any outcry after this one lol
