Oh and for EVERYONE in this thread on either side of this Fence of the decision Answer me this.

how the frak can you follow or not follow precedent when there is no consistency in the Officiating through the entire playoffs. Im almost ready to just not even argue a good call or a bad call. its getting useless.

if someone puts their fingers in my mouth in hockey and doesnt move them I think I would clamp down as well. if you choose to sit there and suck on his glove sweat I guess thats your thing

I probably would move my head or his hand. It doesnt take a PHD to figure out how to remove a hand from ones mouth. Or to not let it in there to begin with...:fencing:

umm... don't think jstew is condoning biting here.
just pointing out that a precedent has been set that "regular season precedents are out the window in the later rounds of the playoffs"

- earlier rulings indicate that biting is a suspendable offense (ie. Ruutu got 2 games, so Burrows should get something)
is comparable to: - earlier rulings indicate spraying water at a fan is a suspendable offense (Tortoralla got 2 games, Horton should have gotten something)

nowhere in there does it equate squirting water versus biting someone.
the ONLY point is, earlier precedents do not carry forward deep into the playoffs.
Boston benefited once, now Vancouver has as well. that's it.

cause effect ... if the fingers arent in his mouth ... nothing is getting bitten

Evander Holyfield's ear begs to differ. You can bite someone without them putting said body part in your mouth STS. Face washes happen all the time, but certain players are dirty enough to bite someone seems to be the anomoly.

I guess I see squirting water as something that is a ticky tack suspension while biting is an absolute.

I hope most of this is in jest, because I will never see the reasoning in a grown ass man biting someone.

i am in jest. :) I dont like that he did it. I dont like the way the nhl officiates. I dont like they way they review things. I dont like the toronto maple leafs but it is what it is in the NHL

I said in the series thread if he got a game he got a game ... the precedent was there

I also thought Horton would get suspended for squirting water at a fan after game 6 ... the precedent was there

neither happened

i shall now compose a strongly worded letter to Gary Bettman

so again, you are the one comparing the two.
the only thing they have in common is that they have recently been suspendable offenses, and then not.

I heard a rumor that there was no suspension for Burrows. Is this true?
