No pitcher scheduled for Monday night in Houston

Rameriz is in Tacoma.
Maurer is in the Mariner bullpen.
Walker seems like the only option but they haven't announced it yet for some odd reason. Maybe they are showcasing Maurer and planning on sending him back to Tacoma after Sunday's game. He looked pretty dam good coming out of the pen last night.

Obviously Walker is gonig to be called up on Monday and Maurer sent back down, barring any injuries. Getting Maurer some big league relief work in the mean time.

I read on another message board that Price waved goodbye to the crowd after his last start in Tampa. Price apparently knows his time is very short in Tampa. Tampa could use some cheap young guys like Franklin, Almonte, Maurer. So, who knows? Maybe...

I've been thinking more about a pitcher acquisition versus a bat acquisition and I am starting to see the logic of getting another starting pitcher.

Mariners are 19-13 in games started by Young, Elias and Paxton. These guys are not dominate allstar types like Felix and Iwakuma but they are still managing to win with the offense they are given.

Mariners are 6-13 in games started by Beavan, Rameriz and Maurer.

Acquiring another starting pitcher is not as foolish as it seems at first glance, even with Walker arriving.

You never have enough good pitching. And like I have said in the past, it isn't a case of trading for a pitcher versus trading for a bat if a bat is unattainable. It then becomes either trading for a pitcher versus not making any improvements.

I just didn't like Price's attitude about coming here when rumors spread during the off season.

That's why, if we're going to trade for Price, we shouldn't give up anything we'll regret giving up later. If we're looking for pitching, there will be other guys on the market besides Price, though maybe not as good, who haven't already said they have no interest in staying once they get the opportunity to leave.
