Perhaps you are just unable to understand the discussion? What people are debating is what is better for the team if Dak wants $40M per year and also, what if he is tagged and holds out while a new coaching staff is implementing a new offense that he thus would not be around to learn. That becomes a lost year and if the QB only wants to sign for 3 or 4 years that is perhaps a third of the entire contract thrown away. Also, with our horrendous defense, is it smart to try to sign all of these Offensive players and win now, when we won't.

Sometimes the intricacies of the argument are in fact the entire argument. I don't see knowledgeable Cowboy fans saying he isn't worth a "Wentz-like contract" or that they wouldn't jump for joy if he signed that deal today. No one debating signing Dak would be doing anything different if Wentz was the QB in question. You do know Dallas had the best Offense in the league last year by a decent amount according to total yards and it was not because of the running game, don't you?
