Since they are already in the Central Division, this makes the most sense and is the least disruptive
And - it would create an instant in-state rival (which fans would love). And if the franchise ownership spends any amount of time to look at what the Stars have done up here and tries to emulate it in (Stars own 8 "Star Center" facilities in and around Dallas and they are pretty much booked solid) it would do nothing but grow the sport down here.

I'm not convinced that will happen though... Quebec City & Salt Lake City sure sound like the front runners.

Bettman doesn't want to go back to any small markets in Canada. Those Houston Aeros WHA jerseys were sweet as well.

I dont know where all the SLC talk is coming from. 48th largest metro area in the US, 29th largest tv market. Houston blows them out of the water on both counts (plus the rivalry aspect which is important). Houston is also a corporate HQ location, SLC not so much.

Yes, unfortunately.

This along with the fact that Houston demographics are very similar to Dallas' in terms of northern migration down here. Only issue I'm aware of might be around Tilman Fertitta (Rockets owner) and whether he would be a roadblock to sharing the arena. I seem to recall in the past he wasn't completely on board with the idea.

If Houston got the Coyotes over Quebec city it would be sad but I would still be happy that this thing would finally be dead..

The irony would be if the Coyotes stayed in Phoenix/Glendale/Tempe without an adequate arena while the Nordiques left Quebec City because they did not have an adequate arena.

Darren Dreger (grain of salt) think Salt Lake City is in the mix leaving Houston/Atlanta to be expansion candidates (big time dollars) down the road...

Here for when they wind up in Salt Lake.
If they go to Salt Lake are black people going to be allowed to be part of the coaching and front office staffs? Would team officials sign deceased players from other teams so they can always and forever be a Salt Lake ___?

And if there is expansion, go back to the old rules where teams can protect everyone but 3 scrubs and two teams have to build their rosters at the same time from the same pool of has beens and never was's.

And ensure that Chia and MacLean are the GMs of the expansion teams.

I'd love to see the league expand 6 or 8 teams.

I'd be pretty cool if the league added a couple barnstorming teams into the mix

You think that's bad, wait until the NHL playoffs have 24 teams contesting for Lord Stanley's chalice.
Of 48 teams.

I can't wait for the Hakan Loob division
