The silly part about that is the placement of the ball is not done with any precision in the first place. Measuring whether a ball that was placed at a spot that the ref guessed at in the first place made it to an exact spot is a little ridiculous.

It's a joke and I'm surprised nobody brings it up. One ref picks up the ball and throws it across the field to the other ref. Then that ref just puts it down somewhere. And the 2 guys with the sticks are even MORE of a joke. Put a sensor in the ball and all over the field(I think the yellow line technology does that already) and take the human element out of it. Then we would really know where forward progress was stopped.

That's not good enough. That's almost 10% of the pitches in a game being called incorrectly. That could be 10 pitches called wrong for each starter in a given game. You don't think that is enough to influence the outcome of a game? Think again.

I'm fine with it because it's as likely to help as to hurt you, each team will get some and get hosed some. Part of the game, and not dangerously so like other 'traditions' (Utley....)

I wouldn't mind if they go to computers but I don't care if they keep it as is.

Not to be overly technical here, but to qualify as a debate we both have to be.
Dude you are the one that trolled our conversation and started the "contradicting" thing, not me.

Wright hasn't done much since game 1. Heading into game 5 he's 1-12, with 5 walks & 5 K's.
Duda hasn't done much either thru 4 games so far..but whiff-a-lot. He's 2-15, with 9 K's....yikes.

The Mets are gonna absolutely need at least one of them, but preferably both, to step up on Thursday if they intend on facing the Cubs in the NLCS.

More importantly they need deGrom on his AAAAA game.

I know Wright has been horrible at bat but he's making the pitchers pitch and working counts. Duda on the other hand looks lost. We definitely do need both of them to get a few hits Thursday. Mets are lucky they had the luxury of pitching Matz last night to have Degrom on full rest for tomorrow's game.

And the anxiety builds.....

Maybe so, but then why not let a computer run the bases for you. How about having a computer as an ump at first, second and third. Hell why not have computers bat for you?

I like where this is going

Kershaw now has a quality start in 7 of 10 postseason starts, yet he's not 'clutch'.

In all fairness, a quality start (6 IP+, 3 ER or less) is a pretty mediocre standard in this era....

Here's the MLB playoff ERAs the past few years:

2015 - 3.86 ERA
2014 - 4.51 ERA
2013 - 3.92 ERA
2012 - 3.19 ERA
2011 - 4.52 ERA
2010 - 3.45 ERA

I didn't lookup Kershaw's game log for the playoffs, but if he's having games where he's giving up 3 runs over 6-7, that's not particularly great.

2 starts with 3 ERs and at least 6 IP, 5 starts with 2 or less ERs with at least 6 IP. 1 bad game in the 7th on 3 days rest, 2 gems on 3 days rest.

Hu's keys to game 5!

Mets: fuck up the Dodgers real good with timely hitting, excellent pitching, solid, error-free defense, and wise game management decisions.

Dodgers: be a sport and take your participation trophy and go home

Weird weather out here today(and for the last several days, actually). It's going to be very warm and very humid for the game. There might even be a little shower passing through.

So..it's more or less kind of like a July game in NYC.
Alright!!
I like it.
