And that is sad. You should be able to have a solid #3. It is hard to win the WS with only 2 good pitchers because if one of them drop the ball in a game, you may be in huge trouble for the rest of the series because you can't count on your 3 or 4 pitcher to win a game for you

This sums it up nicely.

I didn't want any of the big name aces at the deadline, personally. I wanted Gallardo or Shields because they would have come with a cheaper price tag and both have experience in the postseason. I was told that both those pitchers were complete garbage and that I knew nothing for wanting them.

You were on the right track. Certainly much closer than the Dodgers GM was. They gave big money to Brandon McCarthy and then didn't bother replacing him or Ryu when they went down. They thought Latos and Wood were going to be the answer? You need to do better than that. If they could have had one of those aces for a guy like Joc Peterson, I think they have to get it done.

Kershaw and Greinke is our 1-2 pitching punch......after that it falls off substantially.

It doesn't matter. Kershaw has lost his last 5 starts and he's like the best pitcher of his generation by a mile.

Baseball is such a fickle sport. You just have to make the post-season and cross your fingers.

If the Cubs can get to the NLCS, I would much rather see the Dodgers than the Mets. The Mets pitching is just too good all around. On half the teams in the MLB Harvey would be an ace, but on the Mets he is the number 3 guy. That's ridiculous. Any one of those top three could best Arrieta or Lester in a pitching duel.
