Don't matter. Missing the base is missing the base.

You're right on that, still a difficult play for the ump to rule, since that type of thing doesn't happen everyday. If he isn't immediately called out he definitely goes back to touch the base.

So if there is play at home plate and the catcher misses the tag and the runner never touches home they score? It doesn't make any sense

You're right.

Surprised with all the hate for utley on that play. He took a nice shot himself. It was totally legal and tied a fricken playoff gm

The Dodgers pull this shit every year. Right about now they are probably wishing they didn't trade Dee Gordon for nothing and probably could use Matt Kemp, too. Even though he's having a good game, Justin Turner should not be batting cleanup for a contender.

Guessing you don't know who we got for Gordon, one of the players was a guy named Kike Hernandez (not enriquez), otherwise known as the Rally Banana.

Yeah I know it's a tough break for utley but I see guy all the time run and just tough the base after being out for that reason. He went for the take out slide that was legal but dirty and didn't even attempt for the base so it was his own doing. Umps are just incompetent all post season though, that one guy called grandy out on that infield hit for gods sake.

Collins didn't get the memo

I don't think the umpire messed up the call... the real problem was that the ump called him out in the first place... they can't punish Utley for running off the field after the call was made...

Terry Collins shoulda went Apeshit crazy.

Why? Tejada never touched the base
What Collins should have done is get a Met player to step on second with the ball and then re-appeal because Utley never touched second as well

Throwing baseballs at people's heads on purpose is the dirtiest thing in sports

How the fuck can you call him safe????
What a crock of shit that is.

First off, that's an "area" call. You don't need to touch the damn bag as a middle infielder, in order to avoid injury. But you do need to touch the fucking base to be safe.

I hate replay, it's a waste of damn time.

And Ron Darling can blow me.

You can't appeal after a replay.

But you can go apeshit crazy anytime you want.

Yeah it's like I said. Safe has a pretty straight forward meaning in baseball. It means you made it safely to the base. Simply put.

He didn't make it to the base for 20 whole minutes lol. Just dumb. And yeah Darling sucks
