And all 7 came before Arrieta started his streak, before Schwarber came to Chicago, before Castro started raking and before the Cubs won 51 of their last 70

The tweet is silly but the underlying point there is true, and what rmilla is saying is true. The teams that will play each other this round are not the same teams that played each other in the regular season, so that 7-0 record means jack shit.

That, plus it's a different game in October.

I don't think the mets have a chance. Arrieta and Lester pitching in games 1 and 2 will be tough to beat. I could see a Cubs sweep, but the mets might win a game or two. I say Cubs in 6.

deGrom and Harvey are probably better pitchers than Lester.

I'm going to say Cubs in 5 even though I'll probably be rooting for the Mets...for possibly the first time ever.

That's what I told a friend of mine that he must really hate the Cubs if he is rooting for the Mets..... Though all my friends did say they are hoping for a Royals WS win.

Gonna be a great series I think. Power pitching. Power hitting. Lots of Ks. The wind at Wrigley could be big. I think the LH relievers will play a huge role. I really can't believe the Cubs are here.

Defensively the Cubs can be a wreck. How is the Mets C defensively. ?

I agree, but Lester won't be pitching against a power house offense that has been on fire. He will be pitching against a mediocre offense in which several key cogs are struggling.

Listen I get Mets fans excitement but the reason your team is in the playoffs is because the NL East was historically bad. For all the talk of added players and late season pushes the truth us that AFTER the additions the Mets were still 1-6 vs playoff teams. You guys took advantage of playing in a crap division, congrats. In baseball anything can happen so I won't say you can't win this series but it would shock me if this even made it passed 5 games

I agree with everything you said except for the last sentence. As bad as their division was, the Mets actually have a team built for the playoffs. Unless somehow their 4 starters turn into the Yankees starters, no way in hell are they losing in 5 games. This is easily a 6 game series

Maybe. The difference in the staffs is negligible but the difference in offensive firepower is huge. The Mets pitchers could pitch well and still give up 3 or 4 runs. The same is not true on the other side. We shall see

The Mets had the third most runs scored and the fourth best team wRC+ in all of MLB since the all-star break (both of which were well ahead of the Cubbies). Some of it could be chalked up to their quality of competition, but they also didn't have Cespedes/d'Arnaud/Wright/Conforto in the 1st half.

The Mets have some pop...I don't expect the Mets to give up 6+ runs at all in this series. If they do at most it will be one game.....not 3 games as St. Louis did. You need to be honest with yourself and realize the Mets has a much better rotation than St. Louis so runs will be harder to come by for Chicago

I agree. Mets do have a better rotation. They just can score vs good teams. Most of these games are going to be 4-2/5-3 type of games

Wright and Duda will need to figure it next round for the mets to win. They won't be able to shut out these Cubs like they did the Dodgers. It's not like the Cubs relied on just one or two hitters against much better teams than the Dodgers. They got contributions from just about every player on the roster. It could be an interesting series, but I just don't see the mets winning this. I think it could get ugly. I could be wrong, but so could anyone. It's October baseball, anything can happen.
