My Padres helping the Dodgers so far.....

Maybe they will let Lasorda leave a pitcher in too long for old times sake?

Well you better hope not. The next two pitchers to leave in too long are both Cy Young candidates.

Puig is back in the lineup tonight. That makes this game worth watching.

Hopefully the Giants have a plan to break this three-year stranglehold the Dodgers have had on the division. Didn't sound like it though in Baer's season ending presser where he said the Giants will not pay the luxury tax next year. Sounds like that means more excuses coming as to why they did not sign any top flight pitching.

Giants agree to terms with Cuban outfielder. here's what is being said about him:

2015 MLB.com Top International Prospects: Eddy Martinez has shown good instincts on defense and the ability to cover gaps in the outfield

Code speak for "this guy can't hit".

And during that timeframe, the Giants have won, what, 2 WS? Ask the Dodgers if they would rather have division banners or WS Championship banners. Quit bitching about something that isn't even remotely accurate. As you can see, those impressive strangleholds on the division has equated to exactly jack shit. The Dodgers have spent over 1.1 BILLION over the last 5 years and have ONE single postseason series victory to show for their "investment". But please, move on over and root for the Dodgers since you seem to gloat about how they are doing things correctly.

Damn, I sure wish we could say that about the Giants. Its frustrating to root for a team where the dollar is the bottom line. Having said that, if they brush the cobwebs off their wallets this year and sign Leake and one of the top free agent pitchers and pick up the option on Aoki, I think they are the favorites in the West again.

I agree the Giants will improve with another "top free agent pitcher", but so will the Dodgers if they sign a top pitcher.

Good point, but the Dodgers have won three straight division titles. Yeah as a Dodger fan, I would have loved to have won a World Series or two along the way. There are only two teams in MLB that make it to the World Series and the Giants have done a great job getting there in past.

If we can get rid of the Crawford and Ethier contracts, that would be great too. Kike and Van Slyke can hold an outfield position, Puig's gotta stay healthy and Pederson will look to improve. Resign Kendrick, let Utley and Rollins go and the Dodgers will be looking good next year.

Let Anderson go, resign Greinke and try to sign a top free agent pitcher, then sometime next season we could be looking at a 6 man rotation with Ryu, Wood and McCarthy as the #4, 5 and 6 starters. Next years team could be a lot better than this year's.

It looks to me like the Dodgers are going back to their old method of success the employed throughout the 70s and 80s where they developed their talent rather than bought it. We'll see, but I expect to see a lot of those young guys playing a lot next year and to see them develop some of their own poitching.

So....ya think Bud Black is Dodger material?

I doubt it but who are they going to get? Surely they didn't punt Don without someone "in the tube", so to speak?

They have Roenicke in hand and he was rumored to be the one when he was hired.

Has Preller been FIRED yet?

We can only pray. Here's a puzzling move.
Why pay a 38 yr old set-up man $8M when they're just going to have to trade Kimbrel anyway?! :gaah:

Bud Black is said to be one of 10 interviews the Dodgers have going for their vacated managerial position according to AM 570, the official Dodger station out here in LA. I was hoping for a higher level of incompetence for this position so I'm hoping he's TOO knowledgable to stumble into this job.
