2-4 homestand...won't bode well either
Cardinals are exactly a .500 team at home since the start of 2016 by my count. There is a reason why no one likes Matheny.

Nothing cures baseball ills like playing the Reds

scouty, I sure hope you are right since we've got 3 more games left with the Reds before we head to Chicago for 3 games with the Cubs. I'm new here but I'm a lifelong redbirds fan so thanks for chiming in.

Padding the run differential against the Reds is nice but losing 3 1-run games to the Brewers already is pretty terrible.

The Brewers are the most likely team the Cardinals are competing against for the playoffs unless the Pirates stay hot or the Cubs stay cold. Going 3-3 against the Brewers while being +9 in run differential against them isn't ideal.

Clayton, I couldn't have said it any better than you said it, losing those one run games to the Brew Crew is pretty terrible. I've got to believe that the Pirates are playing way over their heads right now and they will eventually come back down to earth. The jury is still out for me on how good the Cubs will be so I agree with you that the Brewers appear to be the team the Cardinals must beat the way things look now.

As a lifelong Cardinals fan this is one of those days when everything worked out just right with the Cardinals winning and everyone else in the NL Central losing. Heck, we're even back to .500 AGAIN.

Rizzo is the straw that stirs the Cubbie drink. Him being out is when teams in the Central need to make their move

scouty, How long is Rizz suppose to be out?

Just read where Rizzo is hitting in a cage and is eligible to come off the DL Monday vs STL. I kind of hope the STL/Cincy game tomorrow is postponed so Martinez can pitch Monday. It will be kind of scaring facing the Cubs with Wainwright and Wacha to start the series.

not that these stats really mean anything

scouty, You're reading my mind because hopefully we could finish the sweep in Cincinnati without using up Martinez to save him for the Cubs. Yes, this Cardinals pitching rotation scares me to death along with our 7th, 8th, and 9th inning pitchers for that matter. I keep wanting to believe that Wainwright has a little more gas left in his tank but I don't know. Let's just hope that Rizzo doesn't get his timing back until the Cardinals leave Chicago.

That bottom of the 9th in Cincinnati almost turned into a horror story with two replays and the Cardinals losing both of them. Anyway, a win is a win as the Cardinals sweep the four game series with the Reds. Now it's on to Chicago for three games with the Cubs and I hope Wainwright still has some gas left in his tank when he pitches tomorrow night.

Cardinals are very fortunate to win that one. 3 errors but the Reds left 8 on base. Carmart held.

Waino has a great record at Wrigley but that's obviously a fairly meaningless stat at this juncture.

Clayton, You are correct about the Cardinals being very fortunate to win that one especially with the tying run on 2nd base for the Reds in the bottom of the 9th with nobody out.

Yes, Waino does have a great record at Wrigley but that was then and this is now. With Rizzo coming off the DL for the Cubs I sure hope his timing will be off until the Cardinals leave town.

It looks to have a little snow and cold as hell for the start of the cards/Cubs series.........I`tll probably be a wash with better weather coming up.............Rizzo is getting back into the swing, will be activated today.
And with the weather today,he may get another day to rest his back......

But it won`t matter if the Cub bats and pitchers don`t pull their heads out of their ass..........:tsk:

Good luck in the series Card fans..........

I hope nobody on this board has any reason to whine about their team.
Reds fans get to endure this for a whole season. Being out of the race in mid-April is what every fan deserves.

This has been one of the best rivalries in all of baseball over the years.

John, I hear you loud and clear because I have experienced the pain of all of my teams sucking at one time or another over the years and some of my teams still suck.

What do you think is the biggest problem with the Reds organization? Is it ownership, management, their minor league system, or all of the above?
