@BroadStBull: NHL has changed sked format again. Teams will only play teams in same div. 4x.

Hmmm, I'm no math wizard, but don't you need 18 games within your division and 30 games outside the division but within the conference to total 48?

I'm 100% in favor of having only 4 against the division. :)

guess they're going with 32 outside the division? i wonder if they do 2 non-conference games? that'd be kinda silly i think though

I know that Bettman was saying; "At least 48", but do you think they might have pared it back to 46? Not a big difference, but it might make getting the season done by early April just a bit less of a slog.

i think the way bettman operates he is more likely to make it 51 games :L

I wonder if Gary's getting blowback from GM's/owners regarding the unbalanced play within the division.

Just got an e-mail from the Blue Jackets (because I went to their last game vs. the Wild) offering me various mini/flex ticket packages - but still no actual game schedule to choose from.

That was my concern from day 1 when they talked about the unbalanced schedule.

It wouldn't really be fair to all the teams if they drew the better opponents to play more.

For example, Chicago gets an extra game against Columbus, while Detroit gets an extra against St. Louis. Could make a big difference at the end of the season.

Yeah, but some teams also get shafted with more back-to-back games than other teams as well (not to mention the differences in travel etc.)

Yeah, for sure, though they usually at least attempt to even that out by giving teams with easier travel schedules more back-to-backs.

I think evening out an unbalanced group of opponents is much harder.

That's true, a back to back for the Devils against the Rangers/Islanders isn't nearly the same as say the Stars against the Kings/Avs.

I am sure the Blue Jackets are once again trying to convince the league that they are in the Southeast.
