Yeah but the sun has historically been a problem for these games and Tahoe is one of the sunniest places in the US. Why didn’t they just postpone the start to dusk?

I agree, but I think the idea is good, but the execution was poor. They should have played earlier in the day when it was overcast and snowing, or just made it tonight like they were forced to do.

Having it at noon, in a sunny area like Lake Tahoe was just poor planning.

At dusk it would be a nightmare for goalies.

Every year, my son plays at the outdoor rink at Clark Park in Detroit against the Red Wings Hockey Is For Everyone program (his club is the Jackets HIFE program). During the day, if the sun is out the rink is a slurpee, at night any shot higher than waist height gets lost. They usually just play shinny at night because they realized that if you got to the blue line and flipped the puck up into the air, the goalies lost them. He said at night it was just basically reading the play, positioning and hoping it hits you.

Most times in early March, it's overcast with flurries and it's awesome. Not high quality hockey by any means, but fun.

I certainly hope that if anyone - ref or player - gets hurt after catching a skate in those canyons that they sue the pants off the league and stop this nonsense for good.
I wasn't aware there was such disdain for these games.

How the hell did we not score there? Incredible 3-4 chances and nothing to show for it.

I hate Anderson. And when I say hate, I mean hate to play against as he is such a calm and great goalie.

You should see this place for All-Star games :D

Looking forward to it.

I got tired of HF boards but seriously this is my only hockey talk as you know...I live in Atlanta....

I certainly enjoy the skills competition during All-Star weekend, but the actual game (or games) are just guys out for a casual skate and trying not to get hurt. Although the intensity for the final game is ramped up when substantial money is on the line.

I find all AS games very useless and unnecessary. I'm not sure why in our sports we award our best players with another game to get hurt in.

Just give them a trophy, some nice cash bonus, and a paid vacation to Hawaii or something like that and stop it with the game.

And I've said it before but I'll go ahead and say it again.

I hate these Habs jerseys.

Damnit Chairot.

Absolutely hate that and exactly what he did in Game 1 against the Leafs in which they scored twice on.

Not a bad period. Both teams with great chances to score, and both goalies playing up to their level.

Just survive the 5v3 Habs...just survive.
