Tis no big deal. I already ended that discussion by playing the Captain Morgan card. Unless he pulls the Chuck Norris card, we're good. :)

Chuck Norris played Colonel James Braddock in Missing In Action does that count?

He's lucky he made the list.

Count teh ringz!!!

In all seriousness though, when I think back on Bourque's playing days, the three things I remember are Sakic passing him the Cup, scoring the gwg late in the third in the ASG in Boston, and Mario Lemieux undressing him in the 92 Wales Finals. I'm sure Bruins fans probably see it differently.

Mario undressed every defenseman back then. Cup wins have nothing to do with being a great Captain. Bourque led by example and played hard every game and I guarantee you no team Captain was held in a higher regard than Bourque. Sakic handing the Cup to Bourque first, even though he was only there for a year, shows how much respect he had throughout the league.

Cup wins have EVERYTHING to do with it. It's a professional league where you get paid to win not build character. No one is saying Bourque wasn't widely respected for his HOF career. Just saying the lack of a championship as a captain is why he isn't rated so highly

All winning cups show is you were the C of a TEAM effort and win. Sometimes the Captain isn't even the best player on the team. Or are you going to try and convince me Bucyk was better than Orr, lol. Potvin wasn't the best player on those Islanders teams. The Bruins made the playoffs in Bourque's 1st 11 seasons as captain/co-captain, with 2 cup appearances.

Sid and Doan on there make no sense. Doan just doesn't make sense, and Sid...I just wish they'd let the guy play his way into his accolades. He's a damn good player and a good leader, but they're not even letting him prove that...just handing it to him. Thank God he's self-motivated....
