not sure if this was implied by @UK Cowboy 's rules or not...

But I think to make his idea work, an owner can NOT use a team twice or a year twice...

so if I pick NY jets 2018(because Sam Darnold is GOD), I can not use 2018 again NOR can I use the Jets Franchise again...

also, I know we think we want to use special teams as a category, but why?? nobody is going to look at it, not even for a tie breaker... and it is going to be everyone's last pick... if the pick is going to be a throw away, then why do it in the first place???

I dont agree with not being able to use the same team but same year could be worked out

it kind of has to be though... otherwise there is no risk in taking anything... whats the point of that?? Then it just becomes an open draft... where once again everyone has Monster teams... but gives an advantage to the early first round picks because there are some clear picks....

So you had your 2 groups per position groups but you can split them up how you please since we are using all drafted players in lineups for 1st and 2nd half??

I think it would probably be easier to pick the entire teams and then just list your starters

I don't think so. You're drafting a group of players instead of just a superstar. There are a number of guys who will not be drafted because nobody wants to have to start the scrubs they were playing with along with the stud. They would rather get someone else not quite as good that played with a couple of solid guys instead.

except, when you draft the second set, you will still get that monster for the full set...

Not if you don't have to play all the players. If you're playing a 4-3 defense, you only need 3 LB's and can draft two groups with two elite players and find a third somewhere in there.

The Super Bowl runners up idea from my idea could work too, I'd go for that.

I agree. This is the first time we have done this kind of draft. Just go with it as originally stated, no team or year restrictions, just have fun. If it turns out it was too easy, we can always add restrictions if we do this type of draft again.

On a side note, I had a similar idea for an NBA Draft. Each pick, you select two players, one great player and one player who played with him...but never played in an AS game. Ten rounds, 20 players, half are role players, every player plays a quarter

Lets roll with no restrictions on teams or years. Like UK said lets feel out this draft and we can apply it to other sports with different restrictions...

I'm a little upset, feels like I wasted $160 on the Minnesota Wild!
