So this is where teams need to consider. What other positions of need to we have. The Pats don't need to consider paying #1 CB prices, if they are going to do that they should offer Gonzo a legit contract extension and draft a #2
Agree, same goes for those diva WR contracts. Just stay away. I can see overpaying for Cam Robinson or Moore. LTs are just hard to find.

Agreed.

I am okay with giving Mike Godwin a call, curious to see what his numbers might be

What do you think it would cost? Also, would he even be willing to come to NE?

Better yet, what do you think NE should max out at? We all know we have to overpay for top FAs. Would you go 21M per year for 3 years with a big guarantee? I think I would.

Yeah that sounds like something I would do but we all know the Patriots wouldn't

Brah I have no idea and no answer to either question. I suspect he would at least consider the offer, but I don't truly know

There were rumors he may be asking in the neighborhood of 30M.

Regardless of 'we' think, the reality is that the market for a #1 WR is now set at roughly $30M.

Then you must consider the negatives involved. Weather and Massachusetts. Finally, the competition which the Patriots will be up against.
If someone else is offering $21M in a warmer climate with a better team, The Patriots will not get considered offering $22M or $23M.
They'll have to step up and offer somewhere between $25M and $28M. If they aren't willing to step it up, then just stay home. But don't bitch about the price because you don't want to pay it. It's the difference between buy a manual lawn mower or a self drivn power driven one. They both cut the grass, but one is much better than the other. All depends on your point of view.

Welp that isn't an option now

Buccs just signed him to a 3 year deal

Chris Godwin returns to the Buccaneers

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Chris Godwin has agreed to terms to return to the Buccaneers. It’s a three-year, $66 million deal with a chance to push the $22 million APY to $24 million.

You also have to factor in the length, guarantee and any incentives. I'm a huge proponent of incentive based contracts. However, players and agents are not. Understandable if they feel he may not live up to expectations.

Well at least we would've been in the ballpark. Could've had him at least thinking about it. Onwards and upwards. Next
