That was maybe one of the creepier games to have ever watched on tv. I can't imagine being the players on the field looking around in the stands and seeing no one but the press or there being complete silence for both teams. But I honestly could see that being the case.

I've only seen highlights, but it was really strange. Like when they remove the laugh track from a sitcom. It just feels unnatural.

That's actually a good way to look at it. I only watched some of it but man it didn't even feel like a game. More like batting practice or an off day work out but somehow you have to get amped up to think this game actually matters. Now baseball is a bit different since they have so many games so I doubt they would do it in the NFL but they might not be left with much of a choice if these riots continue for the next couple of days.
