Bingo beat me to it......I see Red Bryant as at least as important as Clemons. And really, based on Clemons' performance pre-Seahawks vs. these days, wouldn't be surprised if they could have someone else come in and at least somewhat replicate his role - they just have a good scheme and "energetic" defense.

He is their best linemen in both run defense and pass. The Comparison of importance to the Seahawks is valid to Smith for the 49ers. Not in talent IMO

ohh, i thought Clemons was just a terror in the pass rush. Didn't think/realize he was a run stopper for them too.

Someone please tell me what they've seen with Clemons against the run? Every scouting service I have access to says he's been more up than down vs. the run. Just some of the deficiencies written on him: Struggles fighting through blocks, inconsistent setting the edge, average strength, below average flexibility.

I know there was the article the AP wrote that suggested he's played well vs.. the run and Mike Sando of ESPN said it hurts their run defense, but I'd have to disagree based on every informed argument I've ever found. Can somebody hit me with anything that would make me reconsider? (Just realized this is the NFC Championship thread so I'm slightly off topic here but I'm interested).

Kickoff will be about 12:20 Pacific Time so I don't want to hear any "slow starts are due to the time zone difference" excuses.

The point is Clemons was better than Irvin at all of the above. Irvin spent the game being engulfed and clearly it was a major downgrade for Seattle. Just like what I saw from RJF when Justin was out.

NFL.com - Which Super Bowl would you most like to see?

49ers vs. Patriots - 13%
Falcons vs. Patriots - 5%
49ers vs. Ravens - 53%
Falcons vs. Ravens - 29%

Cool. That's the match-up I want. If you forced me to choose an organization in sports to lose a championship to, I would choose the Ravens. They are the best run organization to me and my favorite one to watch operate in sports. They do just about everything the right way.

On the flip side of that, the last team I'd ever want to lose a championship to would be ANY team associated with the New England area, especially the New England area. Yuck!

I suppose one could say that if they played the Patriots in the Super Bowl and won that it may make a championship feel the best, but honestly, I'd rather the Patriots not even make it there. That would feel better than anything outside of a 49ers winning outcome.

Was there a regional breakdown of the voting?

Nope. Not on this one. Unless they ran the same poll on their website and gave one there but I don't think NFL.com has ever done that even on their website. This just came from Around the League Live.

But we sure get 'em. I heard just this morning on ESPN that the reason the Seahwks were behind 20 to nothing at the half was because the game started at 10:00 for them. That is absurd.

Jim Harbaugh can join this list if he can win the NFC Championship and Super Bowl this year because he would then have the 5 required playoff games. In fact, he can get on the list even if he goes to the Super Bowl and loses.

Head coaches with .650 win pct in regular season and .600 in playoffs (w/minimum of 5 playoff games played)

Name - Super Bowls/NFL titles

George Halas - 6
Vince Lombardi - 5
Mike McCarthy - 1
Mike Tomlin - 1
John Harbaugh - 0
