I've been in denial with Staley's decline the past few years. Not anymore. I guess I should have figured that out when the line didn't even skip a beat when he was injured, I instead foolishly thought the backup was just stepping up for the moment.

He really hasn't looked the same since that injury. Actually, since he got his contract he's been on the decline.

that's the worrisome part. i thought davis improved a little and had only a few bad plays but staley was constantly giving ground. on that one play where smith got killed and staley whipped around and got on iupati he had a right to. i hate that kind of display, but iupati missed his assignment and got in joe's way. in short, will smith rushed inside on staley, iupati missed the chip and was late rotating to the corner. during his roll, he bumped staley and slowed him down in slipping inside on smith. horrid all around, staley included, but iupati made that play worse than it had to be.
