I didn't really want to get involved in this thread, but I just wanted to point out that Fitzgerald isn't leaving for another Big Ten school. NW is his school, I just don't see him leaving it. Plus, I don't think we gain that much with the guy, sure he outcoached Bo in 2011, but his team imploded in 2012 when we came back and beat them, even with like 4 turnovers. He also hasn't won any big games, so I just don't see a huge improvement over Bo.
Shaw, I could get behind.
Petersen, I think the luster is starting to wear off. BSU isn't as good the last couple of years without Kellen Moore. However he definitely a better coach than Bo, better at in game decisions and can coach up players better. So, I'd probably take him.
Briles - eh, not sure. his defenses haven't been that stellar at Baylor, so we aren't gaining anything there.
Frost - Just don't know if I want NU to be his first HC job, with only 1 year of OC under his belt.
Smart - I like this hire, even though it's going the DC route again. The guy's been a DC at Alabama forever and we need that style of defense here.
That all said, I'm supporting Bo until he's gone. I want to support the players, those guys are trying and if one or two of them would just step up and make something happen we'll get through this year with a pretty good record.
