NFL set to recommend Miami, New Orleans as finalists to stage Super Bowl L

Owners will also narrow the list of finalists for Super Bowl LI in 2017, likely with a nod to the future. Houston and Santa Clara, Calif., are considered frontrunners. Houston has hosted two Super Bowls, including the 2004 game at Reliant Stadium. The San Francisco 49ers are set to open their new $1.2 billion stadium in Santa Clara in 2014.

"We'll get a Super Bowl," 49ers owner John York told USA TODAY Sports. "If not this time, it will be soon. It'll work itself out."

Any new on what the stadium will be called? If it's already been announced, I've missed it.

Apple and somebody else that I forgot might get in on the bidding for stadium naming rights. That's the last I've heard but that was a while ago.

So, the iStadium?

I'm sure it has to be a Silicon Valley company since the stadium is in SC. Cisco comes to mind since they're already interested in putting their name on the A's stadium if they ever move to SJ.

Well, that's embarassing. The other day I couldn't remember it but the other company that was mentioned or rumored that might or could get in on the bidding for stadium naming rights was Google.

Apple vs. Google? Now THAT would be a bidding war. Sheesh.

Hewlett-Packard has been mentioned as another possibility. None of these have been confirmed but I've seen them mentioned a couple of times as well after trying to find more on the topic.

I'm really excited about the new stadium, I've been really busy and unable to post much but things are starting to calm down.

New San Francisco 49ers stadium going up fast, but there's a lot left to do - San Jose Mercury News

"We're working every inch every day," said foreman Dave Masel, whose construction team has also built stadiums for the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles. "This is the fastest we've ever done one."

The 49ers needed to build the stadium about six months quicker than it takes for the average NFL stadium because they had so much trouble securing the money to build it and, when the funding finally came through, were eager to hustle toward opening the $1.2 billion field by 2014. Builders Turner and Devcon lose their $35 million commission if they miss that date.
