I hope i can make it out to a game once before they implode the old stadium. Then of course once the new stadium is built.

Yeah, when they finally tear down the house they built for Willie, with it they will dismantle three generations of memories; those of Grandparents, Parents & Children. I know they will take more than a few of mine.

Yorks part of $70 Million group to buy Great America theme park (Mercury News)

The San Francisco 49ers are going into the theme park business, investing in a $70 million deal to buy the Great America theme park -- and bumping out of the way one of their biggest opponents to building their new stadium in Santa Clara: the park's current owner.

I guess this is one way to get around the opposition to building the new stadium next to Great America.

I doubt they are going to be major owners in this, I get the feeling from the article that they are only putting in enough cash to secure the property they want for the stadium.

Hmm, don't even bother clicking on the ESPN link above. I posted that one before I found a better link actually showing what ESPN was talking about.

Video on NBC Bay Area of New Stadium Showcase center

This is kinda neat, they cut it off at the end... but it seems like if you visit that place in Santa Clara, if you focus on a spot in the stadium with that touchscreen it lights up the stadium model in the center of the room.

The 2nd video further down shows a mock luxury suite...

Warriors moving to SF possibly, and now the Niners moving to the south bay in all likelihood. I could watch Sharks and Niners games down there while catching basketball and baseball up here.

The bay area possibly having a collection of state of the art venues for sports should be pretty interesting to watch.

I hope so. I'd live about 10 minutes away from the Stadium!

so now, i guess, there's no chance of the niners actually playing in SF? fucking san fran politics. really? there's no room next to the giants park? the shots of the bay from the greatest stadium in MLB wasn't enough to convince these morons its great for the city? plus, we could have crabtree throwing the ball into the bay when he scores TDs.. you know, for all those kayakers. i don't have anything against SC, but shit, its the san francisco 49ers. i just hope SC doesn't get a big head and demand a name change to something like 'the northern california 49ers'..

The approval of the loan and a 40-year lease agreement marks two of the final financial steps for the new stadium. Make-ready work at the construction site adjacent to Great America Park will begin next month and the official groundbreaking is expected in the spring of 2012.

Yes it would! I have my tent ready and I very much look forward to being one of the first in the gates in 2015!!

As if Niner games aren't fun now....FUD strikes again.

I wonder how they're going to handle current season ticket holders. We've got tickets in Section 31, seventh row. I am assuming we will get equivalent tickets in the new stadium (after a $10k/seat license fee).
