You need a smart QB who will protect the ball, doesn't have to have a torpedo arm, and can manage the game while the defense does its thing, right?

Denver broncos and Colt McCoy... even the names sound badass together.

McCoy just resigned with Washington for 3 years. I'd personally say no on that anyways.

My top choices for a replacement starter would be Fitz, Kaep and RGIII in that order. I love the idea of drafting a guy like Prescott, or somehow getting up high enough to grab Lynch, but both of those guys I'm thinking would have to sit a year. Unless we wanted to throw Lynch into the fire. I love his physical makeup for a QB, but could he play right away? I don't think so.

I don't see why that would make a difference at all.

Are you suggesting they just resigned him to a 3 year deal just to move him? It's pretty obvious they did this because he's a more than competent backup, and can even step in and start when called up. Safety net for Cousins. It's that simple.

Did you notice as soon as Brock sign, Case Keanum in LA was tagged with a 1st round tender tag.

I could really pass on college fans pimping their QBs. Tebow soured me on that crap.

Just get me Kapernick. Kubiak is a run first system so the QB is not going to put up gigantic numbers.
Cut the field in half with boots, throw the occasion long bomb and run the ball.

Even if Kap runs the ball himself only 5 times you still have to account for him every play because he can take it 80 yards.

Make it happen John for a 3rd.

Would Kaepernick be the next Jake Plummer? (Sans terrible game vs the Steelers).

I know how much it would irk Chiefs fans to see Plummer burn them over and over again with the naked bootleg. Would be fun to get that going again.

I liked this up until the suggested third round pick. I don't think that the 9ers are going to keep him on their roster after April 1 when his guaranteed $12MM kicks in. I think Elway should do them a favor and give them a 7th this year and a conditional 6th next year that could become a 5th if we win the SB with Kap. ;)

Why does everyone want to play chicken. 3rd round pick for a QB that will start for the Super Bowl champs is not overpaying IMO. If they don't get a capable QB then surely they will draft one before the 4th round anyways.

BTW, I'm just taking the opposite view on most topics that have validity to them. Makes the forum funner.

It all depends on how many teams are actually in this bidding war. Supposedly Cleveland, Denver, and the Jets are in this but I question the validity of the other two teams. The Browns have a chance to get a guy at 2 that is under a cheap contract for 5 years. Plus gives coach a little more time because hey you are developing a young QB compared to bringing in a veteran.

For the Jets from what I am told they have had no interest in Kaepernick and any rumors of said idea would be just trying to drive Fitzgerald to make a decision. So if I were Elway I would hold my ground at least another week if they are not willing to take a 3rd round pick

Von Miller is pimping Johnny Football. I'm glad he isn't running the Broncos front office - I'll keep the drunks.

I agree with this. I'm not the biggest Kaep fan and if we have to give up more than this, I'd be dead set against it. I think Fitz is the best option I've heard yet. There may be a better trade out there, but I'd pay Fitz about what we offered Oz (if he'd take it, only 2 years or with a club option) and we could go looking for our guy in the next draft or two.

I wouldn't pay Fitz that much. He had a career year, and will most certainly fall back to his norm. We would likely get the Buffalo Bills version or the Houston Texans version, not last year's Jets version. I think Kaepernick is the better option, and would likely come cheaper than Osweiler. Fitz wants Osweiler money from what I heard. If we didn't pay Oz that much, we certainly wouldn't pay that to Fitzgerald.

I think Fitz is exactly what we need. A glorified game manager. He won't need to win us any games, just make a couple plays when it counts and keep the chains moving. The more that I think about it, though, you guys are probably right in the sense that he will want too much money and we shouldn't pay him that much, knowing that we only need someone to not lose games for us.

It would be hilarious to win a Super Bowl with a drunk Manziel at the helm.

Elway, make it so!
