the realignment actually adds more travel to the least coast teams, so they will be traveling almost as close to as many miles as the west coast teams, supposedly the west coast teams like the idea alot more then the least coast teams, so there is obviously something were not thinking about that makes it better for them.

I know that Red Wing Fans and Management wanted more teams in the east. We would have also liked to enhance our dormant rivalry with Toronto. So, in that respect it sucks. Taking emotion out of it and looking at things logically and geographically, It think its a good line up.

I doubt they will let two East or two West teams match up in the finals. I bet they take the winner of the West and Central confrences and the winners of the two East confrences and match them up in the 3rd round. It would just be stupid if they didn't... although the NHL is known for embrassing the idiodic.

Negative. It will be possible for a Red Wings/Avalanche final as well as a Bruins/Flyers final. Hate to say it, but I love the idea.

That is a terrible idea. The NHL will get crap ratings if there is a Chicago vs LA fianls. Most of the East coast won't care. Plus I was under the impression that the plyoff seeding for the 3rd round and finals hasn't been finalized yet?

Also some talk floating around out there that if the Yotes move it will be to a city that keeps them in the same conference. Can anyone say Seattle? NHL is targeting Qubec and a 2nd team in Toronto for expansion.

With the Kings going to Seattle it makes sense to send a hockey team up there as well. Two tenants in a new arena is not a bad way to kick things off.

NHL's new plan for a 4 division / 2 conference system. Top three from each division make the PO's and the next two best records are wildcards. 1st round of the PO's are divisional.

Re-alignment approved by the PA. Still needs approval from the BoG.
