im not a physician... i can tell you though that with modern medicine there is definitely a way to do so! my prescription would be mcdonalds 4 times a day would help!

seriously though, probably a TON of protein and carbs of some sort........

RX steroids kept my digestive system functioning and weight stable during chemotherapy. When I ended chemo the steroids in my system continued putting on "good" weight a few weeks after.

Why do all the articles say that the Rangers were stunned by the decision? Didn't the Rangers know that was more than just a possibility?

They lost a ton. They lost their HR and RBI leader, that makes a huge difference. Can they still complete? Given their weak schedule and great pitching, I think they can but I guess we will see. If either E. Beltre, Gentry, or Profar see increased playing time, perhaps they will start to turn it around on offense. Well maybe not Beltre, he has already been pretty good in limited exposure. Come playoff time though (if they can make it), they could use and likely need a bat like Cruz's.

Like I said let's see if they lost a lot

Giants lost their HR, RBI, and avg. leader last year and went on to win the WS. It can be done.

I would not appeal anything.

It seems to me that MLB has some pretty hardcore evidence if they convinced Braun to accept a suspension without putting up a fight.'

Plus, if you do appeal, I have a feeling MLB will come after you even harder and try to nail you even worse. It's kind of like a DA holding all the cards offering you a plea bargain. Accept your 50 games and go sit down.

Or take your chances and lose a year or more.

Correct, it is like stating "guilty" or "not guilty." By appealing you affirm your innocence. In this case by affirming your innocence you are stating you did not buy the PEDs. Once proved guilty by the evidence, you face penalties for lying as well.

This is true but the Giants did add a few bats before the deadline last year too. Luckily we might have one of the easiest schedules to help us out. I'm more concerned of how the team mentally reacts to losing him. We should see tonight if that has had any effect.

You just need the timely hiting not necessarily great hitting

I would put anything into my body to help it recover, but I don't care about what a bunch of mealy mouthed people say about "purity of the game."

It's America and you can take whatever position you want on PEDs and take any opinion you want on what "purity of the game" means to you. However, the MLB has rules. Rules that the players through their union agreed to and also agreed to the punishments for breaking those rules. They now have players who violated the rules agreed to by MLB and MLBPA. So they get suspensions. The player motivations mean squat. They broke the rules they agreed to and now suffer the consequences.

Each of the 12 players had a right to appeal. None of them took that option which is an admission to using PEDs.

So MLB and MLBPA take the position that PEDs use is illegal. They codified it in the CBA. Break that and you get suspended.

So you and I can put whatever we think is good for us in our bodies but the MLB has rules on what a professional player can't use. Seems pretty clear to me. Plus use of PEDs leads to other health problems earlier in life like stroke and heart attack among other things.

Honestly fuck it we need him back in the lineup for the playoffs I would welcome him back. But in other news a Engel Beltre in LF, Gentry CF, Martin RF should be fun IMO. Nothing would drop!

Having three CFers in the OF is a "problem" worth having:)

Don't have much faith in this post Cruz season. JD knew about it as far back as the off season and did little really. Sure hope he finds something off the waiver wire but he doesn't seem to think he will.

You and I clearly have different approaches to ethics. I don't follow rules because they are rules.

So you selectively follow the "rules" that make sense to you? Even Emerson opined on this. He said if someone was to be a nonconformist, they should expect to suffer the consequences.

But I digress.

You mentioned your approach to ethics is different. Would I be wrong in saying your ethics includes being honest? If honesty is part of your ethics then I would assume if you sign a contract with a business and they have rules for you follow, you would do so. If you did not like some of their rules and you were honest, then you would not sign their contract, right? Or if you did honestly sign their contract and you broke one of their rules, you would expect to be punished, right?

Well that is what we are seeing played out with the MLB and MLBPA right now. We had players agree to a CBA in good faith and now have broken that trust by breaking rules they signed up to honor.

Yet if honesty is not an important part of your 'approach' to ethics, then you have good company in today's post-modern society...especially in politics, entertainment and sports!

So gentry 1.3 WAR in a lot less games compared to Cruz 1.5... Are we really honestly losing that much? Gaining a shit ton of defense and base running but losing power. I think we will be fine

An interesting assessment. Time will tell. Figuring the 'right' spot in that line up to make the most out of Gentry's skills is important. I might go as far as saying Gentry should bat ahead of AJ.

Maybe Cruz was leading them to believe that he would appeal. Who knows? He made it sound like it was a tough decision but I've a feeling he had his mind made up the minute this all came out.

Tweet previously posted said he fired his agent for the PED friendly agent. Maybe he went into this weekend thinking he would appeal and then conferred with the new agent who changed his mind. Who knows.

I think Daniels and Ryan lost some faith for this team after the AS break. Its my opinion had they gone say 8-2 instead of 2-8 after the break I believe daniels would have made a move regardless of the cost. But he was seeing a team going 2-8 and just playing awful with Nelson Cruz. So the thought of losing cruz and adding a player thats not near as good as cruz probably didnt look too appealing, especially knowing they would have to overpay. Now the team got their stuff back together and we are stuck with two 4th outfielders in Murphy and Gentry. I kind of agree with Jim Bowden(hardly ever) in that if any team was going to overpay for a bat it shouldve been the rangers.

Darryl, it is baseball so who knows. Thousands of possibilities. Perhaps having a Gentry and E. Beltre in the line up more often means more stolen bases putting RISP and doubles scoring more runners from 1B. Who knows, but one advantage of having both of those dudes in the line up at the same time is a twofold increase in speed on the bases, but they have to get on base. But of course RW will probably sit E Beltre and keep Murphy in.

Regardless of the Cruz situation I'm glad they didn't. Nothing out there would've made a significant impact.
