I'm really plugged into the recruiting world, have contacts various places, also subscribe to a few of the sites so I bring the info when I can. I also have had 10 years experience evaluating and coaching football talent in the midwest. I know I'm not the only one here that has info, but I like to share what I know with people if they are interested so I thought I would start this thread.

Those of you who are following recruiting for the 2014 class know we have only 2 commits thus far. Go ahead and shoot me questions (or anyone else for that matter) about recruiting (this or 2015, or past classes) or the team and we can answer them.

What do you want to know? What are names you'd like to know more about? etc.... thought it could be a cool round table.

Have you watched much of Hall? Whats your take on him?

I've watched a bit on Hall, and here's my take. He's talented, but super raw. He is faster than his 40 time on Hudl indicates and a very good open field tackler. He's average as a cover guy but has good length to make up for it. He's a good but not great athlete. I liken him to Eric Hagg, maybe a touch less athletic.

Probably not till signing day, and probably not to Nebraska. (unless we win big... like National Title big). He's in our back yard but he's enamoured with Texas A&M and Notre Dame. He likes the johnny come latelies. He's a 4-star talent, not 5-star. physically gifted but not a good pass blocker and a little bit stiff in the knees. He's built great for a combine but is definitely not BCS ready as a linemen yet.

Do we get Foster?

Georgia has backed off... that's a good thing. If Alabama offers it's going to be a fight. We'll have to fight off Florida too. In the end I think we get him, but it's going to be a fight. The fact that he visits almost every chance he gets and still plans on taking an official to Nebraska as well bodes well for us. We need to treat him like we would a any highly rated kid. In the end, I think he stays close to family and plays with big brother.

How many qbs will go for or try to get. And is there a quick fix recruiting wise for the DL like juco route?

Probly a hair early for JUCO evals

QB wise I think we COULD have taken two if Will Ulmer wanted in... he's just that dynamic of an athlete. We would take a Darlington and then another ATH/QB type possibly. But I think we end up with just one QB.

As for JUCO DTs... irule is right... it's a bit on the early side for JUCO players, especially on the DL. Risean Broussard is probably most's #1 target as a JUCO DT. I think we might offer a few, and could go hard after some but right now we've actually only offered JUCO offensive linemen. (Jermaine Eluemunor and Chad Mavety).

Q: What is a recruit who is "overrated anyways?"

A: A recruit who suddenly becomes "overrated anyways" is one who was perviously slated as a diamond in the rough, but found greener pastures and decided to decommit from Nebraska.

Good one... though not accurate. Luke Gifford isn't a diamond in the rough... he's an above average athlete that can play multiple positions. We offered him because he's a teammate of Foster's.

Nebraska does get diamonds in the rough occasionally but I do agree it is overblown. But as fans we do need to hope for the best in these situations.

now you're just getting ridiculous. If you don't like recruiting.... don't follow it. It's simple.

I'm really just poking fun at all of us here at SportsHoopla......including myself. We tend to believe EVERY recruit is underrated.

touche... but i try to stay even keel about these things. Time will tell with Hall... Gifford is a guy that probably wouldn't have gotten an offer if not for Foster. The truth is our recruiting needs to pick up BIG time soon.

There is no doubt recruiting has improved since 2008-09.

There is reason to believe that production on the field will increase in the next couple of years. That combined with the fact that our schedule is more than manageable puts Nebraska in a good position.

I would say Andrew Brown... consensus 5-star DT... He's the longest of long shots but we are pursuing him.
