My concern is the away atmosphere and the fact that the players are going to start feeling like this is a throwaway season.

Motivation is hard to manufacture when they get in that mode.

There we have it. Riley says the main problem is the Nebraska passing game.

I can't wait to see Tommy throw it 60 times this Saturday. I don't want to see one run, just all passes. Hopefully, Minnesota does some running so I won't be sitting there for five full hours.

Nevermind that the pass defense is ranked last, Nebraska is almost dead last in penalties and penalty yards, or end game coaching mis-management; the entire problem has been the Nebraska passing game.

I am just shocked that a zone read, dual threat QB is having problems in a pro-style system with 25 MPH winds.

The D is the D. We stop the run very well. We are last in passing yards, but giving up 14 fewer points per game than last year. The team giving up the most rushing yards is allowing 17 more points per game. But our lack of pass rush and inability to run block just kill us in late game situations (and play calling vs Illinois). I don't see either of those things changing unless we get better players in the o-line and at D-end. We are just too inexperienced or just plain not good enough in those units.

So I don't disagree that Tommy having success passing is the most important thing right now. It will loosen up front sevens so we are able to run the ball. If we are balanced in that way we have the opportunity to score more points and not have it come down to the things we struggle with in the end.
