This might be old news, but I seriously didn't know this. I like what I hear.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's athletic budget will top $100 million for the first time in 2014-15, with much of the increased spending coming in the area of football recruiting.

The athletic department says the budget for the 24-sport program this year is $103 million. That's up 10.7 percent from the $93 million budget of 2013-14.

The football program added six positions that will work specifically in recruiting. Including air travel, the Huskers will spend $1.2 million on recruiting this year. That's up 32.7 percent from the $904,000 spent in 2013-14.

LOL Bo refused to do this years ago but now he's on board. He's unwilling to take risks and be on the cutting edge. He's playing catch up with Saban and everyone else who've been doing this for a looooong time.

It's always gonna be this way with him. Day late and a dollar short.

Tom was the one who said no, Brasky

Kind of what I was thinking.

But I can see where T.O. had a viewpoint of it being more than about having 4 star players across the board. You still have to line them up properly, get them to execute, know the snap count, secure the football. You just don't plop any ol' coach in anywhere and win.

College programs are littered with fired coaches who had tons of talent but couldn't seem to put it all together.

Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio St, Notre Dame, Florida, just to name a few.

All we really needed to do this whole time is spend $55 for a football with some grip on it.

:noidea:

Oh well though......I'll take the recruiting edge as well.

I like this. Eichorst is opening up the checkbook and keeping Nebraska up with the Jones'.

And in multiple sports too.

Other than not retaining Paul Meyers, I find nothing to bitch at Eichorst about.

My guess is he didn't have much choice with Meyers. The writing was on the wall when he didn't get the job.

My bitch about him is letting that circus go on last year about whether Pelini was canned or not. Made a big story where there wasn't one and then we looked like idiots because the whole nation thought he was gone and then he got a vote of support.

Meh, I'll chalk that up to him being new to Nebraska and he shouldn't have had to make that decision right away during his tenure, anyway.

You're probably right about Meyers.

Not a fan of Eichorst. He let Michael Stevens go. Nebraska should have paid Bolt more money to keep him. The thing with Bo

I'm more excited about the fact that we hired 6 new people to help in recruiting.
