Absolutely this.

It's no longer about protecting fans, but the athletes and their families. Particularly in contact sports like basketball, soccer, and maybe the end of the XFL's first season prematurely. MLB may be slow to follow, but with how many players are on each squad it feels inevitable they will also suspend the season at some point. Something that will end up looking like the strike shortened season when they resume.
