All Star game viewership is in major decline because people are getting bored of it. This might shake things up a bit.

You are putting an arbitrary cap on who can make the all star team based on nationality.

International players make up 23% of the league. They absolutely should not be 50% of the allstars.

Im as Red, White and Blue as anybody, but i personally think we will get the shit kicked out of us. The World team will take the game seriously, will be fired up to play and will play as a team. If we did the same we would win, but I think a lot of our guys will be on a 3 day vacation

Not the same. It is called All Star BREAK for a reason. It’s supposed to be intended as that after 4 months of basketball. Players are not trying to play a high intensity game when they are trying to recharge for the stretch run

American players from the past disagree with you. The BS that is the All Star game is now unwatchable. That's why they are trying anything to bring in interest. But no worries, after the World team smashes us, there will be enough fan pressure to actually make our guys try the following year.
And BTW....guys that make half a million dollars a game and get to "Load Manage" 20 of those games and still get paid shouldn't need the break. The guys they will be playing against have the same schedule, so that's just so many excuses

Come on Dude....now that they have put games played minimum on Awards(that speaks for itself), that's easily defeated by saying your ankle or hammy is sore.
But seriously, have you been an athlete? Hard for me to believe. Athletes are competitors, whether they played pro ball or stopped in college. They still compete their ass off after working 12 hours a day and playing in a men's league at night or the playground on Saturday. The World vs the USA and you're saying our guys shouldn't get up? Weak

BTW I just looked at this year AS roster

We had 6 international players ( 8 if Kyrie & Towns are not considered americans) and 18 American All Stars ( 20 if Kyrie/Kat are americans)

Youre not wrong, but why are they changing format year after year? The game is unwatchable. Soon it'll be like the Pro Bowl, no games just some skills challenges, most of which dont even include all star players. They are trying to save the game. Viewers want to see the best compete

I think that's the route they should go to be honest. Players don't care about all star games in any sport

NHL changed their format as well and scrapped the all star game

What a likely world/international AS roster looks like before getting into questionable/undeserved players

After this we get into a lot of players that wouldn't make it in the traditional format stealing 3-4 spots

Turn AS Saturday Night into AS Sunday Night. Move the friday night stuff to saturday

Markannen, Gobert, Porzingis and Siakam have all made the ASG roster in the last few years so not exactly a stretch. Wagner, Murray and Zubac have been putting up All-Star numbers lately too.

And based on last years ASG rosters these would be the best American players:

Jayson Tatum
KAT
Jaylen Brown
Tyler Herro
Dame
Evan Mobley
Trae Young
Steph
Lebron
Kevin Durant
Ant Man
James Harden
Jalen Williams
Anthony Davis
Kyrie

Tatum won't be playing sadly because of his injury, Trae and Kyrie were only in because of player injuries. And guys like Herro, Mobley and now James Harden aren't exactly guaranteed a spot every All-Star game.

So based on this who would miss out unfairly because of this format?

The problem with that it playing time. It'll be like playoff basketball where they play 8 maybe 9 guys. But if my team's guy makes the all star game I want to see him get minutes even if he's the 12th dude.
