Sometimes it’s just fun to look up random role players on Basketball Reference and where they spent different portions of their careers.
The second greatest big man in Bulls history behind Will Perdue, Landsberger was a two-time NBA Champion with the Lakers. Drafted 35th overall by the Bulls in 1977, Landsberger averaged 5.6 points and 4.9 rebounds as a rookie. In his second season, he ranked fifth in the NBA with 3.7 offensive rebounds per game.
Landsberger averaged 8.0 points and 8.0 rebounds split between the Bulls and the Lakers during the 1979-80 season, where he would be instrumental in the Lakers’ title run that year. That season would be his final notable one statistically, as Landsberger eventually became a Joel Anthony-type role player with Magic and company. He was also part of the 1982 Champion Lakers and made a Finals appearance in 1983. He played one final season with the Atlanta Hawks in 1983-84 before playing professionally overseas until 1993. In 1990, Landsberger set the Italian league record for most rebounds in a game with 34.
For his NBA career, Landsberger averaged 5.6 points and 6.1 rebounds in 437 career games.
