Apparently McCarthy asked for more years than Jerry was willing to give. McCarthy will be better off in Chicago. I expect he knows it.

Rumor is Jerry wants Mike Tomlin. I know a couple Steelers fans that would be happy with that.
I know a bunch. Very common for fans to blame coaches when their teams lose but when's the last time he had a decent QB considering Ben had been regressing badly.

Kind of a tough call with Tomlin. Dudes never had a losing season, but if memory serves, the last time they won a playoff game was when he had Ben.

Starting Wilson looked good for the first few games...but then he turned into Old Russ which is basically a little more mobile version of Old Ben.

He probably should have at least pulled Wilson in the 2nd half of one of those games to see what Fields could do.

My friend that is a lifelong Steelers fan just thinks the game has passed Tomlin by. He says conservative football is over.

Maybe or maybe he sees all he needs to see with Fields in practice. Instead of ripping the guy (and not saying you have) for making the playoffs all those times and/or no losing seasons but no playoff wins I'd be inclined to credit the guy for that with the QB play he has had the last half decade or so.

Possible they need to move on and find a different voice? Sure...but also possible they do that and experience what pretty much every NFL fan has seen and their team screws up a coaching hire...or 3.

Most of the Steelers fans here I’ve talked with share that sentiment.

His coordinator hires, past and present are based on his mindset and what worked for him in the past just isn’t translating anymore especially in the game plan which obviously opposing playoff caliber teams are exposing year after year.

Yeah. I agree 100%.

He is a great coach/leader of men.

But I just don’t think you can win against good teams consistently playing defense, run first football and kicking on 4th and short.

Thanks!

You aren’t lying!

Playing with house money at this point.

But if Dan Campbell decides to go for it on 4th and 12 from his own 20, you never know!
I’m looking forward to that one, even though a division rival watching the Lions play is fun.

And it can’t be understated what JD is doing as a rookie, pretty spectacular stuff.

On the other side, I’m very excited for Ravens/Bills.

Better for who?

Not Caleb Williams.

He needs an innovative offensive mind who can scheme some easy throws.

Not a coach who runs a vanilla read and react offense. Think that will be hard for a young QB still learning his position.

When was the last time the Bears had a coach who added value?

That will be an awesome game.

Lions could put it on the Commanders pretty good, but you never know. I think I like the Lions matchup better than 1 with Philly.

Wonder who is up next for Jerry to assign blame. McCarthy did kinda ride the coattails of prime Rodgers but I don’t think he’s a bad head coach by any means. Like some others, struggles with clock management.
I agree....

McCarthy isn't a bad coach at all.....not the best either.....but certainly better than a bunch currently employed in the NFL.

I think he would be really good for the Bears and their offense. And having coached in Green Bay.....he is used to the cold....

The funny thing is Campbell would try something like that. He's a gambler.

Better for McCarthy is what I meant.
