So what are you saying?
That it is ridiculously stupid to continue to call people out for bringing up the possibility of mistakes being made. Opinions are what drives this place.

Jim Joyce disagrees. lol
Let’s go back to the old school days when guys like Wendlestat and West would miss a call on purpose and tell you they did just because you fd with them

Well I for one have never bashed the refs. :bullshit:

It is what it is.

I remember watching an episode of PTI a few weeks about and Windhorst (spelling?) was on talking about the refs. He said it's bad right now because many refs with alotta experience have retired. And the new group of refs are too quick to dish out T's.

It didn’t move a foot in a couple inches. The ball was way outside any way you put it but like I said, it wasn’t just one call. It is the only one they showed. Lack of consistency and this guy is the definition of it. I see quite a few umps that make their own strike zone and with technology this can be cleaned up. That is the entire point of this conversation. Not one terrible call

He is a bad ump.

I am replying to the post that is critcizing this one call.

And this one call is a routine close miss that gets called multiple times a game by most umpires.

That's the problem I have with people like @tlance and others

You point out a clear missed call from a known trash ump and you are ref bashing. As I said previously, players/annoucer/media can bring up a bad call by the ref/ump but someone on sportshoopla does it and it is the end of the world.

You are so dramatic man.

That is the issue here.

They are right at a much higher rate

It’s not even close
what's not even close is how much easier it is to ump a baseball game. In most instances there is never more than 1-2 players in your way. a close call at 1st? you can hear foot hit base and ball hit glove while looking right at the other.

what is there in baseball that's the same as watching 10 players or more blocking or trying to shed the block? How about a deep pass down the sideline where you need to watch the DB and the receiver....then also have to decide if he caught the ball, were both feet in bounds, did he hold onto the ball going to the ground and, oh, did the DB interfere with him?

lol well all they have to worry about is ball/strike and safe/out for the other umps lol. I think being an ump at 1B, 2B, or 3B is a pretty easy job....especially 2B

Not the same as being worried about traveling, offensive foul, carry, block/charge, goaltend, moving screen, and etc
and I'd say the NFL is even tougher than NBA.....but both far tougher than baseball.

They are able to enforce the rules more strictly since they’re less worried about game flow

Unlike the nba/nfl where they ignore things now on every single possession for tv
or maybe they don't ignore but they miss things since they have 10 incredibly fast/athletic people often in close proximity?

It isn’t.

NFL refs/umpires have specific calls they are looking for depending on their position.

Basketball officials do too to a certain extent, but not like football.

I have said this before, but my buddy who played and coached basketball growing up and into adulthood
was a high level basketball official.

Reffed D1 mid major basketball and high school football.

Never played or even watched football growing up.

He said football was way easier and it isn’t particularly close.

That's cool that one guy's opinion is bball is tougher and maybe it is......but I am 100% certain both are far tougher than baseball.

For sure.

But I am going to take a guy’s opinion who has done both over someone who has done neither.

I mean I have done one if you are talking me (not high level).....and that's cool you'd take his opinion over mine, but know there could be hundreds (thousands?) who have done both and disagree with him.

different subject but does your draft guru ever tell you the QBs he likes or does not like before the draft?
