I'm being kind of tongue in cheek here, I don't really believe in 'curses'...but it does seem if you lose a SB and you aren't Tom Brady, you are going to have a disappointing year the next year.
If by disappointing you mean at least make noise in playoffs I agree.

and? It's a curse unless they get back to the SB?
It's not a curse if once in a while a team wins a playoff game the next year?

Really, there's no such thing as curses but this is sports talk. Like last year when DJ got AD hurt in the playoffs....was it really his fault? Probably not but we still gave him shit for it

People call it a curse because it's fun to talk about that way. Ultimately, I think it just comes down to...it's hard to repeat as a champion in any sport. Traditionally, it seems like it's been harder to do in football than in other sports. I think some of it is due to the fact that in the NFL, it's harder for a defending champ to improve it's roster in the off-season. So generally speaking, you have everyone else improving their roster while the defending champs are standing pat or getting worse.

Add to that the fact that the NFL also gives them a tougher schedule and last draft pick. It can be difficult to replace players with guys who are as good or better than the guys they lost.

An interesting name has emerged this morning in the USC coaching search...Mike Tomlin.

Obviously, that's a longshot, who knows if he'd even be interested or has any interest in leaving the Steelers. But according to Carson Palmer, he has been discussed.

I don't think it'd be a good fit. Tomlin would have cache and being a SB winner is definitely ideal in getting immediate respect. Having said that, USC is similar to Miami in terms of needing a reset on culture; Tomlin I feel would have issues around re-shaping the culture that's plagued USC (just like Miami). He never has been known of running a tight ship and that's needed in CFB. Also, recruiting and having to gravel to 18 year olds is a huge gut check.

All we really know for sure is that USC will likely fuck it up. They’ve made one good hire over the last 40 years and at the end of the day Pete Carroll was their 2nd or 3rd choice for the job.

I agree, Tomlin is better suited to the pros.

Carroll and Herm Edwards are NFL coaches that can coach CFB also.
