Obviously, I didn't watch nearly as many Saints games last year as you did...but his number were solid.

He completed 68.4% of his passes for 3878 yards with 25 tds and 8 picks last. Even this year, with all of the injuries, etc. he completed 67.7% of his passes for 2145 yards with 15 tds and 5 picks.

Unless I'm missing something, those numbers don't suggest a QB problem or at least not entirely a QB problem.

The Seahawks just hired Kubiak and it looks like he's a bit of a mixed bag. Has done some good things but fired when a couple of HC's he worked under got fired.

He’s always going to be efficient and not throw a lot of ints. He isn’t as aggressive as he should be so he plays the safer route far too often. I don’t think he is bad. He just mediocre aka avg qb borderline top 20 qb at best. I would not want him to be a qb that doesn’t have a really good run game and defense

Exactly.

Hurts is nothing special. Darnold showed at the end of the season who he is.

And.....

Trent Dilfer
Brad Johnson
Doug Williams

Etc
Ok you named 3 QB’s in the last 35 years. You don’t NEED a great QB but more often than not you need a much better option than the 3 you listed. Hurts is much better than those guys and he can run. If you don’t…you better have an elite defense, a top running game and some pretty damn good coaching. The odds of putting it altogether with average or below average QB play is the reason why is extremely rare.

That's fair. Agree with all of that.

He's not likely to be a guy who wins you games...but he's also not likely to lose them for you either.

At this point in his career, he may be a guy that you bring in to mentor a young QB and/or be a high-level backup who can start a few games for you when necessary and you don't have to limit the playbook for him.

Is Geno better than Carr?

Honestly, I think Geno is a more mobile version of Carr. I love me some Geno, but as I've said before, he's been a career backup for a reason. I'd love to see the Seahawks get a good young QB and let Geno mentor him.

So that’s like 65 percent in the last 45 years have won an mvp award. I was talking more recebt memory, like the last 10-15 years. The game has changed

Oh no doubt that game has changed. Some for the good, some for the bad. I just found what you said interesting and I wanted to look that info up for myself.

Exactly.

And this past season Carr's receivers were a MASH unit, something the Carr haters will not acknowledge. The last 4-5 games they were complete garbage.

All true...and I do think Carr seems to catch more blame than he deserves.

But @bksballer89 overall analysis of him being a mid-level QB is pretty spot on.

It's not a "knock" or an "insult" to him either.

The NFL always has a few guys like Mahomes, Allen, Rodgers in his younger days, etc. who can win games for you...maybe 4-6 or so at any given time...the "elite" guys.

After that, you have a large middle group that are some level of "game manager", then another small group of guys who have no business starting an NFL game.

For most of his career, Carr has been at the higher end of the "game manager" group where things don't necessarily have to be perfect for him to win, but they've got to be pretty darn good.

Now he's slipped a bit to the point that a team can still win with him, but things have to be pretty close to perfect.

I've never considered Russell Wilson to be an elite QB. At his best, he was at the top of the game manager list. He had the Legion of Boom defense, very good receivers and Marshawn Lynch. When the Seahawks needed him to, he could make plays that they needed to win.

But, when the Legion of Boom started getting old and guys moved on and Lynch was no longer Beast Mode...Russ couldn't make up the difference and still win at the same rate.

That's Carr...he just never had the Legion of Boom and Beast Mode. lol

I kind of look at him like this...if you could choose to be an NFL QB, you'd want your career to be at the Brady, Mahomes, Allen, etc. level...but if you ended up at the Carr level, you've still had a career you can be proud of.

Carr missed a lot of time this year due to injury so your last sentence is irrelevant because he wasn't even around lol. He missed the last 4 games

Nobody hates Carr. He just isn't as good as you like to think. He is a mediocre/avg/mid QB

Go back to that list of 16 QBs i listed and tell me how many of those QBs you will take Carr over?
