I'm not sure if it is home teams in basketball or if it is star teams. The Pistons aren't getting calls versus the Celtics even at home and I think that is likely true of your Wizards as well.

My thinking is this…

In a packed arena/stadium, officials are human. It is really easy to get swept up into the emotion from the thousands of fans and unintentionally allow close calls to sway toward the home team.

At a pistons or wizards game?

Fans don’t care enough to have that type of emotional input.

At an NFL playoff game or an NBA playoff game?

It is just different.

It is just different.

Emotion should be out of the mix when they're reviewing calls however, and they still muck those up.

In the case of the NBA, I don't think the on court officials should be ruling on reviews. They are already taking abuse from the players on every whistle, they're going to err on the side of supporting their original call to exert some level of control.
