Yep SOS and non-conference is going to be a huge key.
I think conference champions getting a bye is pretty crazy too. Not sure if they can tweak it though

SMU had a better non conference schedule than bama though and are probably ole miss as well. This is what happens when you go to super conferences. Teams are going to have a cake walk at times in conference play. I know it will never happen but go back to 10-12 teams conferences and you are more likely to get the actual best 12

Yeah, pneumonia is serious anyway...but get into your 60's and beyond...it's gets really serious.

His interviews were hilarious...he's probably the only guy who could refer to himself in the 3rd person and not be cringe or douchey. lol

Yeah I mean the BYU game dramatically helped that so pretty lucky bc BYU is usually mid. A conference like the ACC or Big 12 should not get a bye just bc of being a champion. So flawed. I’d argue there are 5 teams in the SEC that beat SMU. Not saying they should get in. Bama and Ole Miss had bad losses but also had amazing wins. South Carolina was one of the hottest teams but had 3 losses.
We are going to see this discussion no matter what but there needs to be some tweaks, which I expect

One of my prize possessions is a photo I took in 93 at a game in Oakland between the As and Mariners. During batting practice just a few feet in front of me a very young Ken Griffey Jr came up from behind Henderson and jumped up on his back. I need to dig that out.

I can’t even remember the exact teams involved or when this conversation happened.

But people were complaining about an SEC team jumping an ACC team for the final spot in the playoff when the SEC team blew out a bad team and the ACC team was idle.

The reason is that the ACC team should have never been in front of them to begin with. Showing why now.

I do recall that discussion but the fact then and now was the ACC team was ahead.

FYI, not sure how tough these other conferences are either. I think OSU and Oregon are pretty tough. Maybe PSU. In the SEC? UGA and likely Bama and TX (but who did TX beat?)
