Hurts is fine. His regression this year stems from the way he’s being coached and the scheme being run. It infuriates me every week to hear the offenses “brain trust” focused on hunting explosive plays. Those things need to come organically. You need to take what the defense gives you and then be ready to pounce when given certain looks. Hurts has been ignoring aspects of the offense that the defense has presented him and it’s seemingly what his staff is encouraging him to do. They have so many fundamental issues. They’re one of the few teams in the league that doesn’t throw into the space vacated by blitzers. They almost always try and go away from blitz with the ball. It’s really hard to evaluate Hurts with what he’s being asked to do.
