They need to get things figured on defense. They weren’t going through this 8 game gauntlet unscathed but the pass defense is a problem.

I always thought that 8 was perfect.

The 5 P5 conference champs get autobids and then you have 3 wild card spots that could be used for some combo of deserving conference runners up (like UGA this year whose only loss was in the CCG), the Domers if they're ranked high enough and maybe a mid-major if one was ranked high enough.

Even better now that there are only 4 power conferences, 4 wild cards

I get that, but we're also told that they're trying to keep the number of games down because they are "student athletes" and it can interfere with their studies...

at least that's one of the things that has always been trotted out whenever folks would want to scrap whatever lame system we had for a playoff. lol
