Be interesting to see what he gets now, likely about 100 million south of what he would have got.
The 2nd Tommy John says that the acquiring team shouldn’t be projecting much out of him going forward as a pitcher. First TJ surgery there’s a track record of guys coming back better than before with increased velocity. The track record on 2nd TJ goes the other direction. So in my ball park, looking at a guy who was a power hitter who can hit 40 HRs plus a top of the rotation starter, you’re looking at the least a 50 million dollar a year pitcher. I could have seen 12 years at like $600 million. Not now. As a DH that will likely now get moved to 1B or corner OF it’s more like the Trout contract. 12 years $400ish. So he lost at least $100 million on this injury and likely even more. We will never know how high a team was willing to go. I think my AAV of $50 million is pretty sound when Scherzer gets 43.3 million AAV and he’s on the back end of his career.

Good for you.
Don’t cry. You made a comment saying it’s easy to trade him in hindsight when I just said I was in favor of trading him. I pointed out that my comment isn’t hindsight. You can even go back through my post history and you’ll see I was on that page all along. The problem with a team like the Angels is that they aren’t going to realize that they can’t build a roster. That would mean owning that they’re a shit show of an organization. They were chasing bad money. That bull pen is craptacular. The staff was so bad they had to add at the deadline to have 2.5 guys that you can start in a playoff game. Not trading Ohtani just becomes more evidence that’s a shit organization.

I think being the best hitter in baseball in this climate still gets him 500 million. Will be interesting.

Shit front office. They never have the pitching. They could lose Ohtani for nothing hahahaha

I disagree.....I doubt Jokic would get so deep in it like you and would just figure the person asking was taking NBA title and would say it's his team.

Has there been much of an uproar over the World Series designation to change it? I've heard others complain on occasion (as is being done with world champ for NBA champ) but guessing most don't really care.

I don’t think most people care. Clearly.

So they aren’t going to change it and of course there isn’t any uproar.

Doesn’t make it right though.

My only point from the beginning is that what the man said was not wrong. And he is being taken apart for it.

And now everyone here is piling on me for backing him up. Which is fine.

Now, let’s please just let this die. I don’t care to go back and forth with you 3 days after going back and forth with everyone else. I said my piece.

Oh, there's no doubt they would have gotten a haul. Everyone had him going to the Dodgers. They have arguably the best farm system in MLB and were prepared to send several top prospects.

But, they were within striking distance of a wildcard, Ohtani was on pace for 50-60 home runs and it looked like they'd get Trout back soon. A playoff race with Ohtani on that home run pace and Trout coming back, would have put a lot of butts in seats and a lot of focus on the Angels. The Dodgers have sucked up all the air in SoCal with what they've been doing for the last several years and this was a chance to get some of that for themselves.

If it were me, I probably trade him and likely Trout too and rebuild the whole thing.

But I also understand why Moreno chose not to.

Winning or not, name change or not etc, the California Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will always be second fiddle at best to the Dodgers in LA. They've floundered 3 big stars now in recent memory (Pujols as a FA, Trout and Ohtani). Clipperific.

The Niners paid Deebo and traded for McCaff....and pretty sure they have more people to pay on that defense soon. Gonna be interesting to see what they do.

Just watch them sign Bosa before the weekend is over, you can’t trade a guy like that.

Thats why i said eventually.......
The difference between Bosa and Jones is that Bosa is still on his first contract so the niners can waive any fines accrued when he eventually reports. Jones doesn’t have that luxury, the fines are mandatory. Bosa is getting ready to get a record deal.
