New NBA commissioner Adam Silver revealed in an interview with ESPN Radio that Miami Heat star LeBron James is among the players who have personally asked him to make the league's annual All-Star break longer.

Silver told the network he met briefly with multiple players during All-Star Weekend in New Orleans and shared that James, in particular, is lobbying for an extended break to allow the game's stars to enjoy some semblance of respite from the grind of the regular season.

James and fellow Eastern Conference All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh met their Miami teammates Monday in Dallas for an evening practice before the Heat's season resumes Tuesday night against the Mavericks.

"LeBron and I have had a relationship for a long time," Silver said. "We're so far in season [that] the relationship has mainly been one of texting and emailing. I spoke to him for a little bit [Sunday], and he had a few things to say in the locker room when I was in talking to the players.

I totally agree. I think they should start the season two weeks earlier to allow for this and the end to all back-to-backs.

That's not an unfair request. How many times in the past have we heard of a player's shot going south directly after the festivities? Give 'em a chance to get some semblance of a break and regain their proper form.

Makes sense due to everything the All Stars must due during those 3 days only to return to practice on Monday. I think the AS break should be extended til wed or thursday.

i've heard players talk about reducing the season to 60 games. truth to tell i think that'd work...

But are they willing to take the corresponding cut in pay?

No chance.

You would be talking about subtracting 30x22=660 games of generated income.

Dude works 8 months a year and travels first class with everything handled for him everwhere he goes, the all star break is no shorter than it has ever been. Just another example of someone thinking they are bigger than the game.

You do realize he's not the only one who think a longer break is necessary right?

Are you thinking about this logically?

Fact is if you make the ASG you have no time to visit family or take a mini vacation to get your mind off basketball for a few days.

On Friday you have media obligations all day long/personal commitments, on saturday it's the same thing along w/all star practice, sunday you have the game, and on monday you're back with your team probably at a practice.

Practice and work on your skills. Being jealous of another man is not a good look. You can do what he does if you apply yourself.

What if they just cut off 2-12 games and added a week?
