I have been seeing alot of posts/threads about comparing and arguing which team would win from different NBA championship teams in history. How about we make an 8-team tournament and decide which team would stand among the rest thru poll votes? I wanna know first if a lot or enough people will join and try to be objective with this tournament.

PS: NBA Off-Season is coming, we should be doing something like this!

*We still have to wait for the 2017 NBA Championship team.

Doesn't CBS already have one of these? Not 100% sure...

Haven't seen it. Could you send the link?
But this time there's this 2017 Warriors team that could make this tournament more interesting.

I just thought it saw it somewhere and I thought it was CBS. Could be wrong though.

I think very few people are actually objective about stuff like this.

If you're gonna do it, you better do it soon. The season might be over in less than a week.

Put this idea in the mock drafts forum, you'll get more traction.

Aren't more NBA fans here in the NBA Forum?
More people that like to do stuff like this are in the Mock drafts section though.

You aren't going to get enough people from the NBA threads to do this, and if you do, they won't be objective at all.

85% minimum that post in this sub-forum are fucking retarded.

If you wanted to compare Showtime to this Warriors team, for example, what era's rules would be used? Without stating that, doing something like this would be similar to asking who would win between the '84 Bears and '02 Mariners without first saying which sport is being played.

And once that question is answered, every argument becomes moot.

Since my Hawks have never won a title while in Atlanta I'll dictate the winners and you can by god live with it.

Yeah, as much fun as those types of debates can be, the game changes over time. I don't think the rules of either era would matter as much in a hypothetical series between the Showtime Lakers and the current Warriors because both teams play a very similar style.

The Showtime Lakers were more physical than the Warriors, but that was because they had to be, not because they wanted to be.

So for me, it would come down to the way the game is played now, especially the emphasis that is placed on the 3, vs. how it was played in the 80's. There wasn't near the emphasis on the 3 in the 80's as there is now.

Michael Cooper was the Showtime Lakers "3 point specialist" and he was a career 34% from 3. In his best season he shot about 39% from 3. The highest number of 3 point shots he ever averaged was 2.9 per game.

Steph and Klay usually have 3 three's up in the first 2-3 minutes of the game. lol

The biggest problem for the Warriors would obviously be KAJ. They'd have no answer for that. I think it would simply depend on if the Lakers were willing to change up their style a bit. They were a great fast break team, but the Warriors are great in transition defense and also thrive getting up and down the court. If the Lakers slowed the pace some and were able to make it more of a half court game, that heavily favors the Lakers.

On the flip side, as you mentioned the Lakers because of the era again didn't shoot or make many three's. It's the Warriors greatest equalizer. The Warriors could go small defensively because they're gonna get killed in the paint no matter what by KAJ, and simply double him and for the ball back out on the perimeter and let the Lakers shoot. Then you'd have a significant advantage trying to have KAJ or Magic guarding out on the perimeter.

There's arguments to both sides, it's really just comes down to who can slow the strengths of the other team more. If the Lakers can defend the perimeter, they win. If the Warriors can slow down paint scoring, they win.

Indeed I would. Always fun to look back on history at the different teams, see who really was the best.
